Thanks for the information on correcting the strobe effects on these locomotives. I initially purchased MKT #320, and upon checking found the strobe was activated by FN #5. I noted the strobe flash rate appeared slow so using your information I easily corrected it. I now have ordered MKT #313. I'll check it out, and if need be correct it. Thank you for the easy, straight forward video on fixing these minor issues.

Is there a way you can buy a beacon on Atlas?

Hi! Yes, I do believe the newer Atlas MKT GP40s have beacons. They put amber colored ones on these models- which are in line with what the Katy originally used on many units in the 1970s. However, by the 1980s the beacons were clear/white strobes. So, one would need to change those out to reflect that if modeling the Katy’s latter years. Otherwise, a lot of modelers think the Atlas beacons look good and are a nice touch! -Mike
