The Great Falls Park is a beautiful gem in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area (DMV)
Things to Do
The Park has so many activities available for a wide range of outdoor activities. The Park has large overlooks that bring visitors safely to the cliff-side for spectacular views of the falls far below.
There are many hiking trails, but none are too challenging and some are downright relaxing. There are several trails wide and smooth enough for bicyclists and horseback riders to share the trail with walkers. The more adventurous can choose whitewater or rock climbing within designated areas.
During this visit to Great Falls Park, we started at the Visitors Center to take a look at the rushing falls and wander along some of the hiking trails near the designated parking area. We did not bring a packed lunch, but it’s a great idea to do so. If you bring a packed lunch along, there is a large field adjacent to the Visitors Center with numerous picnic tables scattered among shade trees. If you want you can even grill here. Also, please note that there is a restroom area at the park visitor center.
After we left the Visitor Center we chose to drive back up to the main street and park on the side of the road and walk into the woods for about 2 miles to see a hidden water fall and safely get into the water.
It was amazing to walk the trail, we walked a trail to the water, it is was very challenging for beginners but relaxing at the same time. I think you’ll enjoy the trail and there are many small streams along the way.
Thanks for watching ‼️❤️
