Great Video, honestly that 1.5Ah battery really under powers this jigsaw.. pop on the 3.0 or higher and this comes to life. Also this is a brushed motor as well, surprised that Milwaukee hasn’t released a Fuel version yet as it would keep up with that 20v
I've owned mines for about 6 yrs now great little 12v jigsaw. Heavly used in a daily maintenance setting & it's still kicking ass lol. Just can't wait for a brushless fuel version . We will see what happens....
Hey there, 25yo lady here who had a handy dad that never really showed me how to use these tools, I didn’t even know how to put the blade in so thank you very much! I just put up some curtains in my kitchen and my dowel was too long :( I spent longer than I’d like to admit trying to find someone who shows how to put in the blade and now I fear I might not be able to stop myself from finding more things to use my tools on :)
Model 2445-21 is not a "newer version" of model 2445-20. The 1 simply indicates it is model "2445-20" in a kit with (1) battery, which adds the 1 at the end of the bare tool model number.
I'm just getting into wood-working and I'm leaning towards this jigsaw over the others specifically because it's a little less powerful. Most of the ideas I have for projects are just chopping up plywood so this seems like a nice safe option to learn on.
U need to try it with a 5ah high out put battery I run all m12 at work and they all ran a lot better when I got the 5 ah battery plus it’s 12 volts so if u want to get something better than that dewalt you need to get the m18 my boss got it and it’s magnificent
I'm getting one tomorrow through amazon. I should have seen this video first before I purchased it but I will be using it with a coping base and designating it for coping pine trim so maybe it will be alright for that. What are your thoughts?
I think it will be great for that. I’ve been using it more lately and it’s starting to grow on me. Just pick the right blade and you’ll be fine I think.
I use Mafell and Festool but, as you say, at times they are too big. So I'll be getting the Milwaukee M12 exactly because of it's tiny size and the other thing: other brilliant tools in the M12 range that I like. As it's an only an extra and not for everyday or heavy use, I think it will meet with my expectations. If it hadn't been for the other Milwaukee M12 tools, I might well have gone for another brand.
As a Milwaukee Fanboy, I appreciate your honesty. I dont like buying subpar tools just because i have 9 Milwaukee batteries that need a home. There is always adapters to use milwaukee batteries dewalt or makita tools
I agree 12 volt versus a 20 volt is ridiculous. Why people say these things is unreal. Then get all 20 volt tools. If you force a tool like the jigsaw to cut hardwood and pushing it even with a 20volt tool you can damage the stroke bar. So being rough doesn't help
Been using it and bosch for 5 years cutting holes in drywall ceilings, the lightweight overhead is fantastic. The bosch was more comfortable but I got an m12 battery 3-pack on black Friday for 100 bucks so I use the m12 more because I usually have something charged
I think the battery was a bit to small for that saw I would use at least a 4.0 with it… also the Fuel is probably the way to go. I have the M18 Fuel D handle and I swear it’s a beast. Good honest review though. I was thinking of getting the barrel handle M12 if they make a Fuel version
I actually ended up getting the M 12 and I put the 4.0 battery on it and I have to say I’m really surprised how underpowered it is… I wasn’t expecting it to be like that
DeWalts 20V(and all 20v competitors) is the same as 18v(ie Milwaukee M18 or Ryobi One+ 18V), it's just marketing hype in America, in other countries with tighter marketing regulation the dewalt 20v is called 18v. The change from DeWalt's(and other brands) 18v to 20v came with the shift from NICAD to Lithium and Lithium's battery layout where NiCad had 15 - 1.2V cells in series vs lithium's 5 - 3.7V cells in series also lithium's ability to supply more current meant Dewalt and other brands had to change the battery connections on the batteries and tools to handle the added amperage. people would have been upset to have to buy all new tools just because DeWalt just decided to change the battery style and kept the same 18v name, so saying 20v made people feel they were getting more power, which they were but it was from battery chemistry not by voltage aside from 0.5V nominal, but the transition went a little smoother with the help of creative marketing. In reality comparing an 18v or 20v tool to M12 line is not exactly fair, because they have 18.5 nominal volts, where as M12 line uses 3 battery cells in series to only make 11.1 nominal volts, that's a 40% difference. Also the M12 line only uses 18650 cells(limited by the battery design because the battery's need to fit into the handle of the tool) where as 20v systems can use the larger 21700 and 26650 cells that can put out more amperage.
lol, i can and i will, it's good to see how the 12v holds up to the bigger tools, especially for people who don't necessarily want to spend big bucks on big tools
@@hammerandhome I own 10 different m12 tools and every one is underpowered compared to the m18 or dewalts 20 v. except the M12 fuel multi tool it’s hands down the best multi tool on the market no matter volt or brand
I purchased one of these a long time ago and the base comes loose every time I'm cutting, any reason why this happens? I paid over $100 for this junk. I have lots of Milwaukee tools but this is not compact nor a convenient tool. It only holds T shank blades versus way cheaper brands they hold both types. I own different brand names and that's because of the application I use them for.
3 things: 1.MURDERS batteries. 4.0 or higher for any heavier work 2.The base comes unlocked and goes all sideways on mine constantly. Fail. 3. I don’t know enough about these, but I hate that the air exhaust doesn’t clear the cut line. Like, it’s blowing tons of air, point it at the blade.
I have heard from another channel and I also noticed here at 11:15 M12 gets a really clean cut. For this reason, and for home occasional use, I’ll keep mine.
Your trying to push the saw to do extra work. Get the oscillator off the tool. I find it perfect for the speed. People complain about under power. I find it perfectly. So why hurry on a 12volt tool. The job will look better if you slow down the cut.
i tried this one and it felt anemic compared to even other 12v saws, which i know arent as powerful as 18v+. I ended up with a skil 12v jigsaw for my small/tight work. Makita also makes a really nice small 12v jigsaw but it was out of my price range. The bosch one is even more anemic than this one so its a hard pass for me.
@@hammerandhome the mount of control on a barrel grip is killer, dewalt makes a 20v barrel grip that is really nice seeing that your already in that battery platform.
For most projects and even some big projects you could use an M12 fuel impact driver and hammer drill. For big projects going the hybrid route is the best use the M12 fuel impact driver for smaller screws, and the M18 fuel for larger screws and whenever the M12 fuel gets uncomfortably hot. So you have the larger tool for power and the smaller tool for less fatigue.
Your 20v tool is a lie because all 18v battery will measure 20v with no load, but actually 18v once the motor kicks in. So don't kid yourself that you have 2 more volts than other 18v systems.
@@edmondwong6117 yah I know. But it's easier than saying "my 18v tool pretending to be 20v because it has a different battery pack." Supposedly that's also why they "renamed it" which may or may not be partially true. Lithium vs the old ni cad stick which performance wise was just as good as Li, but it had some issues like memory effect.
The m12 is supposed to be used for small projects, not big construction projects. It works great for what I need it for, if I need to do big jobs I whip out that m18! That's a badass jigsaw
Crap, I just ordered this with a battery combo for $78.00 with a hack. It's clear from your video that this saw is way under powered. I will return it when it comes in. I'm a Dewalt guy, but don't want to pay $169.00 for the Dewalt since I don't do enough jig sawing to justify it. Might just try the Ryobi 18V cordless. About $69.00.
I think some people who dont know anything about saws might want to know what to get, there is a big price difference between the two units. it good to compare every thing, dont you think? then when you buy, you know what your getting, cheers.
Expecting a unbias opinion from someone with a wall full of Dewalt is a nonstarter. Invite a hardcore Milwaukee person to handle the red tools for you. Even better if it's a female friend just because no one I know of is. Saying it's underpowered with a 1.5 amp hour battery is just disingenuous. If more power is needed the M12 4.0 XC battery is the best choice and ups the power substantially.
Are you kidding complaining while literally using the weakest battery ever produced by Milwaukee a jig saw needs a 4.0 at minimum the power difference is immense
