From Uganda but much respect to Haile,he managed to resist the colonialist and for that case his family deserve too much respect amongst all Africans. I love you Ethiopia
God Bless our royal family. Since Emperor Haile Selassie was deposed Ethiopia has been in shambles and utter chaos. The Emperor was a great leader and brought Ethiopia to the world stage. After the Italian occupation the Emperor worked day and night for our country’s economic and educational development. What he got in return from the Ethiopian people is nothing but betrayal. For the last 45 years we’ve been paying the price for our mistakes.
Very interesting interview. After all of these years, I do hope the traumatized young lady has finally healed emotionally. I am half Nigerian and have love for the Ethiopian and Eritrean brothers and sisters ❤️
How beautiful are you my beloveds. I cannot keep the tears out of my eyes. I hope you lived with better memories after you got to the US. God bless America! God bless the royal family!
I taught Meheret at the Sandford School in Addis Ababa in 1976 sometime before she escaped with her siblings. She was obviously traumatised as shows here in the video. Meheret, if you read this, I know everything worked out well for you in the States . God bless you. (Mr Keast, Maths)
your country USA backed by UK intelligence betrayed the royal family ! Kissinger is behind all these atrocities and he went to face the Lord for his heinous crime! In the end the truth shall come out one day and Ethiopians will never forget the betrayal ! today USA is in this mess coz behind the screen their crime around the world is innumerous!
I didn't see this interview until recently. I am glad you are alive. You need to understand that many young Ethiopian died during that time. You are lucky to be out safely. So many Ethiopian people have suffered physically and mentally. Stay strong and plan ahead. You can achieve anything. Remember, 1) you aren't responsible about what happened in Ethiopia. 2) you should be proud about who you are and where you came from. 3) your grandfather had done many good things in Ethiopia. He had bad advisers and ministers who did disservice to him and his administration. He loved his country and people. 4) don't believe all you hear and read. Do your own investigation. There is too much politics to it. There was also envy and misunderstandings. Majority was race related politics and hate from Areb countries and Egypt, Libya, and some others. There was also some ethnic groups roles. There were complex issues in Ethiopia. Still, there are. 5) your grandfather had ruled Ethiopia peacefully and respectfully. Don't be bitter. Ethiopia loves its sons and daughters forever. You are Ethiopian.
Their grand father His Majesty was a great man who had significant contribution for the creation of modern Ethiopia. May God bless his soul. we, most of the Ethiopian people fondly remember him for generations.
Let's not be judgemental. Many did not live during the time. In addition, the government and media portrayed them as evil at that time. I am glad someone brought the video up as part of our history. For those of us who r old enough as a reminder. For the newer generation as introduction and education who the royal family were. They r our beautiful history.

Wow I can imagine how terrible it was their experience, I'm so glad they're escape that horrible event. I never seen his grandchildren before thank you for sharing🙂
@@Eyerusalem_ what is your view about them. We don't get what you reckon. As illiterates please give us some education. Peace to Africa and Tranquility to Mankind.
I have great love for Ethiopia for the people for Haile Selassie..learn to disagree without disrespect one another, by reasoning you can learn how each see things differently what experiences were. We each see through different eyes. Try to heal from this you are a great nation and can be great again and be an example to the world. I am always mistaken as Ethiopian even my mum said I look like I am. I feel like I am somewhere in a past life..have love it is greater than anything ❤💛💚🙏🏾🌱💧
It’s very sad she isn’t able to talk what she had inside of her but no matter what the fourth generation have to go through this we still love you we respect you there are many positive history have rewritten we love you and respect you and your families you deserve better we wish you the best there will be some day on your own soil live happily after may god bless you
ስብአዊነት Forever የሀይለስላሴ የልጅ ልጆች እኮ ናቸው royal family it’s a must ende some of us don’t know our history it’s sad! Do you know hailesilase even? Do you know what it means to be his family ?
ስብአዊነት Forever read it again When you are a royal family like Haileailase behaving like this is a given heritage it’s part of being royal, meaning the discipline the articulations and the eloquent speaking. You seem to be surprised by the way they talk. Other nations know your history so well and tell you, it’s not ok to be ignorant so know your history.
I don’t really now about Empire Hileselase,. But I heard from my parents he was a good and kind man for the people of Ethiopia! However, no matter what he did or leaders did the family should not be punished for anything! This young children looked like confused and disturbed but I’m glad this store was not now and it was long time ago! And you can see their innocent facial expression and confusion! May God bless our one and only country Ethiopia! Other leaders or politicians should learn from this horrible mistake and let’s live peacefully and happily!
Lemelem what ever you do good in Ethiopia most people don't appreciate you, now they realize their mistakes how they removed h/s I seen testimony 2019.
Tamar Tamir , I think you are wrong with that. The emperor was bad to everyone except the greedy feudal families who were raping the poor 95% with no mercy. My entire family was one of those people who used to gave up 70% of their farm production every year for those fat and backward feudals.
There is so much we can learn from them I suppose because being through a lot for some thing that they have never done fault for the sake of their country requires courage.Let us try our best to let their sacrifice be worth to live for!Thank you for sharing your video with us!
The worst bit is when the interviewer suggests that the US might decide not to renew their visas after 2years! It looks like they hadn't really considered that possibility, and the coldness of the interviewer suggested that might well be the case! I trust it was not however, as I know a great many Ethiopians settled in the US. Right now though, we all need to be careful of the stories that the US media are spinning, and remember that they always supported the TPLF...!
It's sad that to see their family suffer, specially those young one ,who are innocent. It must been terrified and heart breaking for you. After I heard your interview, I couldn't sleep. What ever good or bad we did, it will hunt our innocent children. My heart goes to you and I really feel your pain. To be honest Hailesselasie did a lot's of bad to Eritrean under his authority. Very sad story start to uncover what it was happening then. The bad thing is, they are not around to see how you suffer in the result of what happened in the past. May God give you strength, you are the innocent have to suffer, because this world is not fair at all. what can I say,May God be with you.
I amm from jamiaca and i can see the humility grace and royalty from a thousand miles away.. The King Haile Selassie l is very wise also as he gave us the land of Shashemane in Ethiopia to show the gratitude for the love and knowledge we have for H.I.M. and ETHIOPIA/AFRICA.
18:04 those are eyes that have lived through real pain... I hope she is okay wherever she is now. I know that look when I see it, and the raw feeling hidden behind it. Same thing etched in Leul Alemayhu's eyes in every photo of him, once he was in the hands of Speedy
Thank you very much biniam hirut for having an interview like this on your channel, I respect you being an ethiopian and doing your best to hold your country's history as an important factor of ethiopia and saving it for all of us to see! Love from eritrea
Every time I think about WW2, Armenian genocide, Hutu and Tutsi, and the Red Terror (Key Shibir), I feel so so deeply touched by humans action on humans and I'm always disheartened by the remorseless actions they took. I always wish if all those genocides had never happened. God bless all who were affected in anyways.
jobe work king Solomon blood? That has been a mythology throughout the history but the reality is that there was no such thing called king Solomon blood line connection with these family

@@muluembetgorfu5996 No, it is not true. We got rid of the bloodsuckers who were living like Gods on the back of hardworking people, you were just parasites and we casted you out to your rightful place of irrelevance. Enjoy the fruits of your labour hahaha
The suffering endured by these young siblings then, are synonymous with what many ordinary citizens went trough . The regime was an equal opportunity aggressor . The young lady in the middle most likely is suffering from a post traumatic syndrome. Tortures , sexual abuses, specially on females by the authorities were common . We all thank God for the safe passage he granted us to a wonderful civil society wherever we are. We all dearly love our birth country Ethiopia. Good Bless..
@@newyorkistannewyorkistan8966 lol that's 🧢 all Ethiopian talk about is how life was cheap and easy during haliselassie Antle Italy invaded and famine struck still with our haliselassie ur name would been Sofia lol during his reign Ethiopia had strongest military in Africa and 1 dollor was worth 2 Birr the only that hate haliselassie are banda tigray and Galla's other anti amhara f00ls also it doesn't matter wear he is buried if he dominated you ungrateful servant Ancestors for 83 years I wouldn't care if Derg burned haliselassie body in the Royal palace he will always be a legend in our eyes

Very interesting and a historical interview . the whole story of their escape is written in the book of Jodie Collins "Codeword Catherine" She and her Husband organizsed the flight very secretly . the pictures in the Book show the 3 and their family as they arrived in US. God bless them
I recently found out that my Mother's maternal ancestry goes back to East Africa M1 haplogroup, working on finding out what ethnic group she and we come from Ethiopia, UNCONQUERED!!!!
True that!!!was also I met an African American lady in Atlanta few years ago, we spoke generally of history and the conversation ended up about Ethiopia because I told her I did volunteer work across there!!! and she was surprised that I travelled to the East! I remember she told me she did a DNA test and found out she has Ethiopian ancestry!!!!I was surprised at first because she did look like a Nigerian woman, she told me she thought she was West African but found out she has Eastern Heritage hahah, lol, sometimes a person look can throw u off!!!but I should not be surprised because historically speaking the white man his first encounter in the East Africa Indian ocean before making his journey to west, and clumping us all on one ship like sardines u have different ethnic groups of African, the darkskin south indians ( Elamite/Dravidian SEMETIC Akkadian/ Sumerian groups) were also taken in ships too that's why when I see my people in the Caribbean they also have the look like mixed habesha Ethiopian/ india! The sons and daughters of SHEM of ELAM, JUDAH, BENE EPHRAIM, MANASSAS the sons and daughters of the diaspora is in the mix....history needs the be rewritten and the white man is not gonna tell ya all the details of who u are and where u come from, we are not all West Africans!!
@@MichelleBrown-vi5zo It would do you good to research Moorish heritage of black Americans. Many where there before whites even conceived an idea of the Americas. History is a lie, and most do not realise this!
@@morgankibet9427 My mother's maternal ancestry is East African, not West African. Do you understand anything about mitochondrial DNA? 99% of my Mama's DNA MARKERS MATCH THAT OF EAST AFRICAN MITOCHONDRIAL DNA. THE SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FROM PEOPLE IN ETHIOPIA, ERITREA, SOMALIA, KENYA AND SUDAN.
@@staarchild313 DNA Companies usually lie to people to make profit. If you are Black American there is very minimal chance you are from East Africa. The Europeans didn't buy slaves from East Africa, if you were in the Arab world it would have made sense since they were the main slave traders. There is no way that 99% of your DNA comes from East Africa because your recent ancestors were taken from West Africa. Even if your mother was from East Africa it wouldn't be 99%. You are Black American and you should be proud of your west african ancestry
Why not bring the royal family back as a ceremonial institution (just like royal families in Europe)? Just to keep 3000 of history. While the country is run democratically.
ProGamer01 - That would have been the right thing to do. Our royal family is our pride and part of our long history but we Ethiopians are our own enemy we don’t think critically and decide what’s good for our country.
I am not Ethiopian but I think that you guys first and foremost need unity so that not only Habesha people think this is a good idea. You need all other ethnic groups also on board so that they also recognize that the old Abyssinian civilisation is something that all peoples in the Horn of Africa can be proud of. I am a fellow Horn African and I love you guys❤️
