Sleeperdude kids. If you are reading this and you are still on the road. Remember to ask your parents- ARE WE THERE YET? ARE WE THERE YET? ARE WE THERE YET?
@@Sleeperdude My sisters and I traveled around the country with our Parents in a station wagon in the 60s and early 70s. Are we there yet was our favorite question. LOLOL!!!!😁
That wagon just became a family heirloom because of this trip. In the future there will be 3 great humans doing incredible things because of the incredible things 2 great humans are doing today. Bless you as a family.
@@Sleeperdude You're bringing back memories of my family trips in the early 90's. We had a 86 Buick Century, with 4 of us in that car. My parents and my brother and I, plus a poodle (Benji yes after the movie) . So my dad had to buy a Sears clamshell to put on top of the car, so we could fit all of ours stuff. Did we go out to eat? Nope, Mom packed our lunches, though I think we did eat dinner out. Sleeper dude, my father watches you all the time he has demnita and he justs loves your show and I just want to thank you for putting your video's up. Giving my dad a chance to watch a great car show and family show.
Half way through this video and guess what? Yep, I joined the channel. I'm a BONAFIED MEMBER of the Sleeperdude family now. I can help pay for Tosh's speeding tickets, Ralphie's Whoppers, gas for Wawas's VW Bug, Squeezy's colors, and Sleeperdude's Viennyas. 😂
@williamparker8866 oh no I've been watching his videos for over a week. Went back 14 years when he built the Sleepers he took to the drag races. Awesome stuff.
My parents and papaw took my brother and me out west from WV in the early 90's for 18 days. We took a 1991 f-250 regular cab with a topper that had bucket seats out of a mustang bolted to a sheet of plywood in the bed of the truck and a small camper mattress for napping. We stayed in tents at KOA camp grounds most of the time. I was 11 or 12 yrs old at the time and I'll never forget the trip. Your kids will always remember this trip forever too. Great parenting done by you guys!!! Have fun!
When I looked at my RU-vid channels and seen, I had a two hour sleeper dude video I thought I died and went to heaven thank you thank you thank you your videos make my life worth living I just love your family and all the things you do
Our Family with 7 kids aged 8-16 and Grandma (dad"s Mom) , So 10 peoeple total diid the trip from Washington state to California, in the early 70"s in a Olds or Buick wagon with the rear reversed seat. Me, being the youngest, thought that seat was the coolest thing ever. Dad was the only driver. I dont recall if we had a/c in the car, but I do remember dads left arm was always dark colored and grandmas right arm was dark , from having them out the window the whole time we was moving. Good memories. I hope your trip is successful and Joyful. have fun!
Thanks so much for taking us along with you guys. I know it must be kind of a pain to have to edit and stuff while on vacation but I hope you all know there are a lot of us who look forward to seeing you all having a great time like you deserve. I look forward to the next video, take care and God bless!
Did you know that there are 19,269 Dollar General's in the USA? Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Can't wait for more! Your family is so beautiful and caring.💛💛💛💛💛
I love the paper maps also. T. A. Truck stops have small atlas's . Get yourself a magnifying glass a yellow highlighter.i use paperclips to hold your page on the map book. Oh if you go to the truck driver side of the truck stop by the logs they have little flat rulers with milage scales, for calculating miles. I'm a Commercial driver,of 24 yrs . Hopefully those tips will help, save you time. Time is precious 👍. Thanks again guys. Enjoy that trip❤️👍👍.
Griswold family, eat your hearts out the Sleeperdude family has now set the standard for the across country vacation. This was amazing. I can't wait for part two.
You guys are so awesome. It's just like we are on the trip with you. I'm too old to do that kind of stuff but you make it possible to do it in my living room...THANK YOU.
First song I always play on the radio when I hit the road with a crew is Holiday Road by Lindsay Buckingham from the National Lampoon's Vacation soundtrack! Enjoy your trip! 😀
That Bronco like that, a true survivor, uncut and rust free (no holes just surface), with patina is worth mega bucks these days. People have gone crazy for them.
1:02:03 We went on family vacations to Niagara Falls from the age of 5 to 12 each summer. At the time, it was one of the least expensive places to go for a family of 6. I see Squeezie's sitting in the front seat between Mom and Dad. That was my seat, in the front of our 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 sedan. Reminds me of our trips!
This brings back a lot of memories. In 1975 I was 9, traveled with my Mom, Dad, brother and sister in a 1975 Toyota Corona Mark II Station wagon pulling a one wheeled tent trailer, from California all around the US, hit 30 states in 2-1/2 months. Thanks for sharing your family experience.
My Auntie had a 1972 Vista Cruiser wagon with the sky roof and backwards rear seat. We drove everywhere in it! I drove it in high school with all my friends loaded up in it. That car drove so smooth and fast. This brings back lots of good memories. RIP Uncle Dee.❤
I love a road trip movie (National Lampoons Vacation) but this is even better because its real. 1 hour 53 min video but it only felt like 30 mins, more please. 👏👏whoooo
I recognize the father statement "that was good and not to bad." It means that was good and our envelope is a lot lighter but don't want to hurt the positive vibe of the trip. Lol
So good to see the dedication at the start. If it wasn't for our past we wouldn't have a present 💕This was an awesome trip that you'll remember forever! And I'm one of the lucky ones who travelled with family in a wagon....some of the best times of my life, thanks for reminding me 💕
Loved seeing Squeezie and Ralphie in the middle front row seat! That was my spot on trips because I was the youngest in the family. The only drawback - the siblings fussing I was hogging the a/c so I’d have to crouch down with a blanket wrapped around me! 😅
Family of 4. 1983. Trip from Ottawa, Canada all around Nova Scotia, Canada. Three weeks in the back of a fully-loaded Slant-6 Plymouth Valiant with a canoe strapped to the roof. I was 9 years old, my sister was 7. We did Highway 3 through Vermont and NH and Maine both ways to shave a day off the drive. I have many fond childhood memories of that trip. Josh, you're a workaholic, and this is why you are a successful RU-vid creator. Put down the cameras and cherish these special moments with your awesome family. Have a great time and a safe time. We'll see you on the flip side. Lawrence
I love the way your raising your kids. I was an only child to a single parent and never went on a vacation. I enjoy watching the great family life y’all have!!
Thanks for taking us along with you: that was fun, and we'll look forward to the next episode! You are making awesome/lifetime memories for your kids, trust me. When I was about 7 (1968), my parents bought a pickup camper, and took our family all over the US for several years. Most memorable was a trip to Alaska (Summer of 1969): Minnesota up to Vancouver; car ferry through the Alaskan Inner-Passage to Juneau; driving up through Anchorage and Fairbanks, to Nome; and then all the way back down the ALCAN highway (then, still just a well-maintained gravel road, as it had been constructed for WWII) and home to Chicago. You and your kids are definitely living your best lives: enjoy, and please do continue! 😀
Just watching this. I'm from Texarkana Arkansas and have been to a lot of the same places in Biloxi, New Orleans and San Antonio. Love your videos and the family connections. Don't change a thing!!
My mother and I did a road trip from Woodland California to Reedville Virginia in 1989. The problems along the way where half the fun and some of the best memories of my childhood.
The funny thing is the Main entrance to the River walk is literally across the street from the Alamo and if you'd looked at the side walk in front of the River walk they marked the posts of where the Mission walls used to stand.
It took a couple videos for me to get used to the editing style and I’ve gotta say it’s pretty much a staple for sleeper dudes and I absolutely love it
Can't wait to watch, I remember trips with my grandparents. Both smoking & they would only barely open the window a crack and then pulled over for coffee and cigarette breaks every 3 hours. And the only snack was life savers..LOL
Y'all need to come to Central Texas Hill Country! We're suffering from a Heatwave & drought but nevertheless, the Texas Hill Country is beautiful. Welcome y'all!
Family vacations are personal especially tracking the routes and experiences of your ancestors. So thank you for sharing a very special trip with the public, us viewers. I have a lot of respect for you Josh sharing, filming and editing. God bless, L& R Grandfather John
If you are going from Tombstone to the Grand Canyon, I hope you decide to go through Globe and Payson rather than through Tucson and Phoenix. Less traffic and a lot cooler. Plus tons of history and old buildings.
Isn't it amazing how say the world is crowded but yet some many abandoned places which can house a lot of Homeless Veterans and citizens! OORAH Keep Moving forward!!!
My parents had a 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 station wagon with the faux woodwall siding and we went on a two week trip through Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California when I was younger so this brings back a lot of memories for me 👍 They didn't have Dollar Generals back then but, my brother and I use to count VW Bugs on our trip..........Lol Love your recreation of your Great-Granpa's road trip and I'm looking forward to seeing the next video of your trip !!! Stay safe and watch out for those drunk drivers 😅
In 2012 my lady and I rode our bicycles from DC to NOLA, camping the whole way 2300 miles. Nola was still kinda wrecked from Katrina, We used dollar generals all the time! Thanks for sharing, great to see some of the same places we saw. What a great trip for your family!
My mom and dad bought a 82 caprice wagon in blue back in 86. Loved that car. My sis and i would sit in the back. We'd put all the seats down and sleep on long trips. Fond Memories.
I just love the comments you randomly make about the earth being flat. I'm a flat earther so it tickles me to hear someone else talk about it. Your family is amazing.
We lived in Dallas Texas. Just about every weekend we loaded up the station wagon and drove 18 hours to my grandparents in Missouri. I remember stopping at rest areas and churches would be giving travelers coffee, water and bologna sandwiches and chips We would stop on the side of the road and mama would spread out a blanket for us to sit and eat bologna sandwiches and chips. Daddy would sometimes crawl in the backseat to take a power nap. Daddy and Mama would work all day Friday and come home to pack the station wagon and hit the road. My older brother and I would sit in the very back with the rear facing seat. I have so many wonderful memories of those trips. I’m praying for continued blessings on all of you. I am also a old west historian. We were in tombstone just a week ago. It’s awesome!!!! Oh gas in California was over 8 dollars
Well i watched the whole thing in one sitting and i am looking forward to the next installment. Thank you for allowing us to come along on your adventure. Be careful out there and have fun!
The First part of your tip is close to my heart. I grew up along the MS gulf coast, went to College in Mobile, AL, spent a lot of time in New Orleans and worked in a most of Texas. And that old 1972 Vista Cruiser reminded me of my time washing Oldsmobiles during my High School years of 1971-1973 for an Oldsmobile dealership where the owner chose a Vista Cruiser as his personal car. I am now disabled and retired and can no longer travel, so seeing these locations refreshed a lot of old but great memories. Thank you very much for putting together these videos and sharing your travels. Looking forward to the rest of your travels.
My Dad was a truck driver for 33 years so liked to drive. When I was growing up in the late 1950s to late 1960s we alternated every other year going from Central Illinois to Florida or California, with one year to Expo 67 in Montreal and did New England and the east coast that trip. My folks always had station wagons, mostly Fords, with a rear facing back seat. They would put that down for early morning starts and make a bed for my brother and me in the back and carry us, still sleeping, and put us to bed in the back. We would wake up later in the morning when we would stop for breakfast at HoJos, Smuckers, or some other restaurant. We always stayed at motels, probably chains, but don't remember which ones. We did Rte. 66 several times and saw all the sites along the way, got fresh peaches in Georgia, saw Indian ruins in the South West, the Grand Canyon, Ausable Chasm, the Petrified Forest, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Four Corners, St. Augustine and so much more, went through dust storms, hurricanes and more. Have quite a few home movies of those trips that I put on DVD. Great memories. On the negative side, I saw lots of car accidents and human drama as a child.
Awesome video brought a tear to my eye remembering my family road trips back in the 70s . So glad your carrying those traditions forward. You have such a wonderful wonderful family. Enjoy the trip can't wait for the next video. 😊😊
Looks like Y'all are having a great time! We went to Biloxi about 7 months after Hurricane Katrina hit and most of what you see wasn't there. The building with the giant shark head was gone and before Katrina the building was on the ground not up in the air. Cruisin' the Coast will be the first week in October this year down there, that might be a great event for y'all to go to!
I spent a few hours at the Biloxi lighthouse changing the starter out on my 77 Chevelle after the 2013 Powertour. A nice family from Indiana gave me a ride to the parts store to get one. Y’all have fun!
My parents took us on a Western trip along route 66 from Carlsbad caverns to Pikes peak to Dodge City in a 62 falcon station wagon in 1963. No a/c of course. Memories of a lifetime.
Man oh man, what a rig. My dad did a similar trip with his grandfather sometime in the early 70's I think. Pretty sure they were driving a mid to late 60's Oldsmobile delta 88 or 98, I can't remember what car he said it was exactly. All up and down the west coast then back through Colorado,Wyoming,Utah,Idaho. It's been a long time since I've been on a road trip vacation. What we had to go on vacations with wasn't as nice as this wagon, I can guarantee you that!
This is my favorite one yet, Mom you are a beautiful and intelligent woman and mother, leave those liver killing energy drinks alone. And please keep your children in sight at all times. Love you guys!
Videoing and editing may be murder but man I love these long vidyas. That car is flat knocking down those miles. What a call. So proud of your choice on plan B. It looks like everyone is in a great mood after close to two thousand miles. God bless and as they used to say in the seventies " Keep on trucking".
Thanks for bringing us along on your nostalgic trip! Grampa and Gramma would be proud...and I'm sure they are smiling down watching the Sleepercrew reliving the family adventures in a station wagon! Safe travels and make sure the Vye-annas don't explode in the back!
You should have a running total of how many times Josh says “cool or “wow”😂. It’s great to see a family nowadays that can even go on a trip like this and have everyone get along as well as they do. Next trip you should head up north to New England. There is lots of history up here.
No fixed plans no reservations the best way to travel, it makes it more of a adventure and always more memorable. I'm late 60s travelled most my life from NZ to many countries and always without fixed plans and schedules.
We traveled from California to my grandpa's farm in Iowa and back three different times. We had a 1964 Dodge wagon with rear facing seat and power windows when we were kids. I believe it was the 880 version
My grandparents took us on car trips to see America they are the best memories of my childhood. You are giving your children the most precious gift you could time spent together. What an awsome thing to share with all of us thank you and so glad you guys had so much fun.
@xxxterm I wish that were true. We have a major refinery in Anacortes WA, but we also have several cap and trade carbon credit systems in place. We are slated to be one of 3 states to ban the sale of new gas vehicles by 2030, less than 7 years away.
That is probably likely. That happened to one of my vehicles, but it was not intermittent. But i noticed at night that my brake lights were on without braking, so i assumed they were connected. The fix on that model car was gluing a penny to the brake pedal sensor stop, so that the sensor knows when the pedal is not pressed.
@@Sleeperdude I hope you get to go to the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody, WY. The gun museum there is... impeccable. There is a basement too. I spent 2 days there. 😂 i like guns.
