The entire album, "The Captain & Me" is worthy enough to get the Doobie's into the Hall of Fame. They are still touring and there are some great recent online videos .
If you listen to it again man check out that bass guitar line. Especially in the verses. It really gives so much movement and almost funk to this song underneath the layer of driving rock. It's such a fantastic arrangement and the singing is killer as always.
Yep.... seen them, That's The Doobie Brothers: Original Members Tom Johnston - electric guitar, lead guitar, lead and backing vocals Patrick Simmons - electric guitar, backing vocals Tiran Porter - bass, backing vocals John Hartman - drums, percussion, backing vocals Michael Hossack - drums
Thank You JM… This weekend I’ll be at my son Mike’s house putting new floors down. There will be a partner of his who looks nearly identical to you, Kenny could be your twin. Like you he has never heard the songs you are reacting to. SO… I put all the songs you did that I suggested on a memory stick, 32 so far, and some others. We will watch your videos all day on a 75” HD with a serious sound system. NO PAUSES. Your face will be smiling all weekend. It is going to Blow Kenny’s Mind. I’ll just be smiling the entire time and Mike grew up with the music so he’ll dig it too. It’s going to make the job a lot of fun for me. Thanks Again.
I was 14 years old, trippin on some LSD/Good Smoke standing 20 feet from the stage for this performance......IRON BUTTERFLY - IN A GADDA DA VIDA - 1968 (ORIGINAL FULL VERSION) CD SOUND & 3D VIDEO
Time Has Come Today - The Chambers Brothers (Reaction) | THEY MELTED MY BRAIN!!.... that was your first suggestion from me. I just watched it again and want you to know the Chambers Bros were all on pretty good stuff when they recorded that LIVE in just one take and no over dubs. the drummer is a freak of nature.
The song is based on a fictional small town in Texas. Johnston thought he had created a fictional town called "China Grove" near San Antonio when he wrote this song and then later realized that it actually did exist from a cab driver who confirmed that with him. That is a cool story and yet kinda eerie 😮
I appreciate the time and effort it takes to create your reaction videos, it's the editing at the end that takes more time than watching the video sometimes. Worth every minute for the quality you produce. You average two per day and gain just over 100 new subscribers per day. That's cool. I just posted a dozen videos of concerts I've seen Kansas, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top. it only took me 34 minutes because there is no editing or comments. Thanks for the time you put into your videos..
JM... This song/video is more true today then when the song came out and had a massive effect on everybody. I have suggested it to five other reactors and they all loved it... you will too....BARRY MCGUIRE- EVE OF DESTRUCTION
Wild Orchid - Talk To Me Just for the fun of it. (the one with the pretty blonde on the cover) They will have you singing.... LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA.......... you won;t be able not to.
Yup, Doobies are a staple in the BlueGrass / Rock genre. Some others of theirs worth the listen is Long Train Running, Listen To The Music, Takin' It To The Streets, Jesus Is Just Alright.... IMO however, none of these are as classic as the Black Water and China Grove you've already done. They all kinda start sounding the same after a bit.
