Watch a female Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) and her two young owlets basking in the sunset light of winter in Dallas. With its long, earlike tufts, intimidating yellow-eyed stare, and deep hooting voice, the Great Horned Owl is the quintessential owl of our Texas woods. February 28, 2019. Filmed at long range at an effective focal length of 2000mm to not disturb the owls in any way.
The owl is using an abandoned old Red Shouldered Hawk nest high in a Shumard oak. Feeding, preening and other nesting behaviors exhibited in this long length video for viewers to enjoy!

👍🤚my friend thank you for sharing lovely captures. They picked a really small nest lol. To funny to watch them all scrunched up there. The GHOwls in my backyard use a tee nest cavity. Wonderful you get to observe and witness these beauties grow up and fledge. Raptors are awesome. Sweet momma looks so beautiful. Thanks for sharing have a good weekend take care. The owlets are at the age now where the adults become easily annoyed by them. They won't be all in the same nest for much longer as they start to branch out.
