In Episode #133, we leave Westport Harbour and at the highest point on the Rideau Canal, travel through the Newboro Lock. We continue on to Chaffey's Lock, one of the most popular locks on the system. We stop for one night and enjoy a meal at the Opinicon Lodge. The next day we move south to the next lock, Davis Lock, a lovely spot for solitude and quiet. Here we decide to wait out some weather. This part of the Rideau Canal is very picturesque with lots of little lakes and bays to explore.

Your videos make Canada the wonderland of water travel. Even the remote places are so nice and quiet and it seems everyone helps to maintain the beauty. All of your lakes are so clear and boaters seem to reflect that with no brown lines on the bow or transom. Enjoy.

Buck you are too kind! Definitely Canada is a hidden gem to many boaters, with its clear freshwater. There are no tannins in the water to stain the bow of the boat, except for maybe the Ottawa River. Thanks so much for watching!😎

You must be getting close to crossing your wake. ( I know in reality you have). I also noticed a change in branding.... a new adventure? As per normal, another great video.

You are right Patrick! We’ll finish showing the entire Rideau Canal and then in 3 episodes we will finally show the crossing of our wake! In preparation for new adventures without our boat, it was time to rebrand. Glad you enjoyed this episode and thanks so much for following along!😎

Welcome to Opinicon Lake where our cottage is located. The section of the Rideau canal from Newboro to Jones Falls is (in my opinion) the nicest part of the system. The top/bottom of Chaffey's lock and the top of Jones Falls locks were our favourite spots to dock and spend some time when we had our big boat and now we often take the tin boat over to Davis and Chaffey's to visit. It was fun to see Opinicon Lake from your perspective. I will be sorry when your trip finally ends as I have enjoyed each and every one. Great work!

Opinicon Lake is a fantastic place for a cottage and boat! Chaffey’s and Jones Falls Locks have long been popular spots for boaters. So glad you have enjoyed our journey and we certainly appreciate your support and comments!😎

Hello, my wife and I really enjoy your videos. We have a 2008 34’ Mainship trawler too. We noticed the camera on the back of you boat. Would like to know what you purchased. Backing into a slip with a single screw can be difficult at times. Was hoping to connect the camera to our iPad.

Hi Gary and glad to hear you enjoy following our journey! The camera we used on the back of our boat is a RioLink Networked POE camera (not wireless). The camera is added to our wireless boat network and the image can be accessed on an iPad with the RioLink app. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!😎

Was trying to understand the Rideau River flow to the Ottawa River vs flow into Lake Ontario… then you clarified everything. I hope you take the trouble to retrograde your voyage a bit to visit the 1000 Islands. A place not to be bypassed

Hi Peter and thanks for watching today's episode. We purchased our vessel in 2019 and kept it in the Thousand Islands so we have already cruised this area quite extensively. We won't be showing this in our looping videos this time, but for anyone who has never boated these islands, we highly recommend taking the time to see this area. It is beautiful and also has access with the Parks Canada pass (on the Canadian side). The US side is equally as beautiful.

@@staycool123 so sorry your audience will not see the 1000 Islands. You know, when you mention the area you get a blank stare or a dumb comment about Minnesota (10,000 Lakes)
@staycool123

Peter, it is perhaps one of the best kept secrets of Canadian waterways. We will show one of the islands near Kingston: Cedar Island but we know there are MANY more!😊
