We share our solution for boat WIFI and a boat network that we set-up and used while living on our Mainship 390 on the Great Loop. We set it up prior to Starlink becoming widely available and it is a great solution and alternative with great reliability...especially for staying in touch with our family, uploading videos, downloading charts and much more!
Thank you for watching!😎

Thanks for a good presentation of the options! We also use the Peplink Transit Duo and have Starlink and a Verizon data SIM feeding it. We don't use the Starlink router function, Peplink handles that, but even so, Starlink does use a bit power.

My husband and I are in Calgary and hoping to retire to the island in 2 years - if we can afford it! Your videos are inspiring - alluring us to come. We are hoping to get a boat too - a sailboat! Maybe our paths will cross.

Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. I left Ireland in 1973 for Ontario I stayed 2 years drove to the west coast along the newly finished transcanada which after the 400 ended at Barrie was all single carriageway. I came back through the states. I was 20 leaving home in all that time I never phoned home and at times I was thousands of miles from where my family thought, this was not considered in anyway unusual. My grandfather sailed to northern Scotland a number of times in the 30s they had no working engine, gps radio or forecast. They kept close to shore and believe it not asked fishermen where they were and about tides, currents and anchorages, there were no marinas. There were lots of small inshore fishing boats about. All the communications we have now would have been unimaginable then. Better now.

Hi Malcolm and Rachel, thanks for all of the great videos and tips! We recall in one of your videos you mentioned your headsets, where you bought them, approximate price etc but we can’t find that video now. Can you please pass along any info on your headsets. Thanks so much!

Hi Sara, thanks for watching our videos! We used Eartec headsets and got them from an online company in Toronto (AVShop.ca). Loopers call them marriage savers and they are invaluable for any maneuvering like docking, locking, anchoring… anytime you need to communicate but can’t see each other. The only issue I had was I needed to wear a cap so it didn’t fall off my head when leaning over the anchor! Hope this helps!😎

@@staycool123 Thanks very much! I can see how these would be called marriage savers 😉

What brand of dingy lift do you have?
@staycool123
@staycool123 21 день назад
The Hurley H3O Dinghy Davit system is simple and easy to use. Ours has a manual crank but you could add an electric winch. You can see it in our boat tour here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8brak14nlV4.htmlsi=7XlsMIdR30gecZR3 Thanks for watching Donald.😎
