We are cruising around America's Great Loop and selected a 1999 Carver 504 named the Here's To Us!! as our Great Loop boat. So much goes into Great Loop planning and we share every trip with you. Welcome aboard!

Y'all are such a breath of fresh air. I haven't been able to tune in for quite a while, and I'm so glad y'all are still here. I am so thankful that you show everything. . .how to plan and get through certain places. Be safe and keep it up.

It’s fun following you two along the way. If I’d known you were coming, a welcome could have been arranged or even just a wave hello. 👋 Next time* around you should do the north shore of Lake Ontario to Toronto before heading southbound once again. (*The Great Loop: Urban Tour: NYC, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Memphis, NOLA, Miami … 🤙) Safe travels …

Yes, we had planned to do a little bit more of the North shore Including Toronto but we had spent so much time and places along the way that we enjoyed. We will eventually get there. Thanks for coming along with us on our journey!

Another great video, thanks. My Dad grew up in the Charlotte neighborhood that borders the Genesee. Family goes back at least 6 generations. Grew up visiting Abbots every summer. Was so dissapointed a few years ago. They changed their custard ingredients and it's nothing like it used to be. U didn't miss anything. Had better soft ice cream. How's the weather in the Cape so far this winter?
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 9 месяцев назад
That certainly is a great area and we enjoyed our stay there in Rochester both times. Yes we did not get too simple the custard either. The weather has been crazy everywhere! Record cold temperatures!

I was marooned in Wilson NY many years ago. We were coming back to Oak Orchard from Toronto after a stop in Hamilton, Ont. We were in friend Bob Postal's single screw boat. We dinged the prop somewhere during the trip, but were able to limp into Wilson. Had to have some friends come from Webster to pick me up. My boss at Xerox was not to happy about my unscheduled day off! Port Dalhousie approach looks great and it turned out to be a great stop. Miriam and I as well as Pete and Carol Fournia were glad that we were able to meet up with you when you arrived in Rochester. Rev, the line handling training you gave Miriam and Carol really paid off during our time on the Rideau Canal where we went just after you trained them.

came up the canal once in a 26' sailboat. Part of the trip was at dark. Awesome sounds of rushing waters in the locks! Overall a very cool experience!

First - congratulations on the correct pronunciation of Port Dalhousie. The other pronunciation (dal house ee) is correct for the East Coast of Canada. Second - while at DYC, you were actually tied up in the entrance to the original Welland Canal. The first three versions of the canal 1829 - 1932) joined the lake here at the mouth of the Twelve Mile Creek. I hope you got a chance to see the historical village as well as the world class rowing course.

Thanks for following us and your information that you added. Yes I was aware of the Welland canal history, and also how they had plans to build an even newer one than the one that is there. We didn't get time to see the historical village. So perhaps on the next trip, we'll get some more time! ❤️🇨🇦

There was a daily to-and-back steamship service between Port Dalhousie and Toronto from the 1890s to the 1950s. It was a great and inexpensive tourist getaway day (in both directions!) and Port Dalhousie had a nice amusement park for the day trippers from Toronto to enjoy and leave a few dollars behind.

The Great Lakes can become dangerous with short wave-length, steeply faced wind waves that can damage vessels and crew. But it is interesting to compare sea state discussions with those we've experienced on the N Calif, Oregon, and Washington coasts and bar entrances where large, long wave-length swells often carry confused wind chop on top.

Just a question, why did you go this way and not the Erie canal? Because you can, wanted the adventure or some other reason? Nice work for sure and have fun!
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 9 месяцев назад
We did the Eastern Erie Canal but our boat is too tall for the Western Erie canal. So we did that the first time and went through the Trent, the second time we couldn't get into Canada and had to hire a crew due to the pandemics restrictions to take the boat through the Welland Canal. And on the third time we were able to take our own boat to the Welled canal. That video comes out today January 20th 2024.

It's a beautiful marina with nothing to do when you get there. Also keep your personal belongings locked up as the city of Rochester is ripe with crime and your stuff will get stolen.

We were pretty fortunate when we were there. Pretty good security withe the access gates where we were. Also, great Italian restaurant nearby! 😊
