English 1B: Here's a short video-lecture walking you through Leigh Hunt's "Jenny Kissed Me" and Sara Teasdale's "The Kiss" -- See More for the two poems below:
JENNY KISSED ME -- by Leigh Hunt
Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss'd me.
THE KISS -- by Sara Teasdale
I hoped that he would love me,
And he has kissed my mouth,
But I am like the stricken bird
That cannot reach the south.
For though I know he loves me,
Tonight my heart is sad;
His kiss was not so wonderful
As all the dreams I had.
