Great shape, but adding to other comments you may pain the wooden mold at least from inside by any sealer paint to prevent wood from moist. Good start... Well done.
Excellent! I was thinking of doing something similar for years but never had the time. I used to be a Quality Controller in 1 of the world's leading pipe and concrete beam manufacturers. I will use similar molds to make test cubes. The molds I used were made of iron plates. Of course, we can't spend so much on this. Wooden mold is good enough. But I would suggest you apply some grease oil or something similar to prevent the moisture in the cement from damaging the mold. For connecting the sides of the mold, too much screwing and unscrewing will destroy the screwing area. So I suggest you use some Toggle Latches or Clasp Locks for easy removal. Overall, this is a great project. You can make a good business out of this as well. Well done!!
That's a nice looking brick. You showed them stacked, how they look in running bond? Also I can see this be rather madning if you had to make thousands of these. If you plan on making alot of these bricks, you may want to find a more quick release. Like hinges and latches. Doing the screws not only takes alot of extra time, but it can strip the holes, and won't screw in anymore after so many uses.
Very nice design, only a block made for single walls should bale to pass pipe and cable so the holes need to line up. Also the unnecessary hole on the middle will only eat up a lot of mud and make them difficult to lay. Just advice from an electrician. Nice effort besides.
demonstrate load bearing capacity. surely a more efficient process ... this pace will get you into build mode in a few years... other than that ... cool hobby for a day
Should add to the mold an exterior mold, then cut it in half, mass produce the molds, fill them to make your decor bricks, put aside let them cure, at that point just remove the molds, easy peezy
If you have to make a lot of those bricks, it doesn't seem practical to make one by one. Last I heard, a local home improvement store might work better. :)
The pies of wood that makes the lines in the block it be better if you glue them on so they don't crack them you should paint it to keep the wood from soaking up the water and it will help from the cement sticking to the wood the wood mold will come off easily and not stick
The assembly and disassembly of the mold must be improved. I invented something that makes disassembling and assembling the mold faster. You with this mold in a day of work have approximately 2 hours or more of wasted time. Improve your idea. It has to be made of galvanized sheet metal or thick sheet metal. The material to use has to be sand, Portland and water.
I would coat the inside to prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, and I would make two molds for the facings; one would have the three grooves at the top and bottom, the two in the middle, and the other one would have two grooves at the top and bottom with three in the middle. This way when stacking they would be consistently alternating. Or you could make two complete molds with the opposite facing and in this way you can make two at a time.
King Mono you should come back with how Mr Chitungwiza played his unique octaves . Had Chemudhara saying Chibadura was the best lead master he ever worked with
