You camped at my all time favorite place, Deep Creek Federal Campground. I spent almost every summer with my aunt and uncle in Bryson City hence my profound fondness for such a magical place. When my sister and I got too rowdy, my uncle would get a couple of old inner tubes and dump us out at Deep Creek to ride the rapids. That was long before tubing became popular. Once he decided we had burned off enough energy and were literally blue from the icy water, he would take us back home. To this day, I make an annual pilgrimage to Deep Creek before the fair weather campers move in. Oh and by the way, that flower you picked is from a poplar tree. Some people refer to it as a tulip tree.
Slim, The quality of your videos has little to do with your effects as much as it does with the heart we all see in them. I feel spiritual renewal just from watching your adventures in nature few of us will ever get to see otherwise.
Dear Slim, the flower at 2:18 is a tulip poplar! It's ne of our favorite harbingers of spring here in the south. Hope we'll see you in SC - so many beautiful places to camp here. Safe travels!
That flower at 6:08 is dog hobble and the butterflies are red spotted purples enjoying the mud! Thanks for visiting our neck of the woods and showing it so beautifully!
The waterfalls were very pretty. $30 was a bit much for the site with no showers. Jeff's Spyder camper was nice. Being the owner of a teardrop Little Guy, I could appreciate his self built camper. Happy camping!
Slim I really enjoyed meeting you and showing the camper thanks for your time. I will keep in touch as I travel out to the PCH Hwy in a few weeks. Enjoy all your videos
Thank you so much for your videos! My long hiking days are behind me and now I enjoy your filming and travels in nature! Your filming is incredible with thoughtful dialog! Safe travels
I love it when slim shows off other camper builds. Hope he does more of these. Always fascinating to see what people have setup for camping. Also great fix on the vent. Caulking gun might also help to. I fix almost everything with that stuff.
It's a bloom off the Popular Tree. They are beautiful. Your in "Going No Where Fast" territory's. Hope you get to meet up with Rick. North Carolina is beautiful.🙏❤️👍☕
Slim! We were there too! So close to you, bummed we didn't know, would have loved to meet you in person and hang out! April is NC rainy season, as you know and we found out 😅. I hope you enjoyed your stay. We were there looking for a new home, perhaps when we get settled, you could be our guest, break bread & tell stories around the campfire? 🙏 praying for your safe travels!
Slim came by my Camper van, knocked on the door but I was out hiking. So disappointed that I had missed him. We eventually met on Canada Day in Ottawa a few years later.
Good to see you out on your travels and your advice is very helpful. I'm off on a 2 week trip from home in Glasgow, Scotland to Gothenburg in Sweden to see Metallica. In my VW Camper- going via the Channel Tunnel, via Amsterdam Holland, Hamburg Germany, Copenhagen Denmark, then back via Brugges in Belgium. 3200 mile round-trip to see the greatest live band I've ever seen again 🤘
Sounds like a great trip…fond memories of doing a road trip or two to see bands. Not Metallica (not my taste but Hubs would do it) but ABBA & Bay City Rollers were great! LOL guess you can guess how long ago it was! Rock on!
Great video Slim, such a beautiful part of the country. Jeff your camper is wonderful, an ingenious design and has everything needed to make camping a breeze!
This is like a day out of my childhood spent exploring the woods down home. Wish I could smell the fresh spring air heavy with leaf mold, soil, water, trees, and wild azaleas, honesuckle, and jasmine! TY!
This looks like it'll be good! I like seeing motorcycle camp trailer setups. I saw a COOL camper some guy had once that was a tow behind box, but it folded out into a rectangular tent with a porch section. It was really cool. Whole thing was elevated off the ground about 2ft.
I really enjoy your videos. I went back and binged watched a lot of them. I like how you give some helpful advice and show how you fix things. Thanks for all the videos, can't wait till the next ones.
Hello Slim , I like Jeff's Can Am Spyder and his Spyder Web Camper Trailer! That was a pretty neat set up! Good job Jeff! And thank you Slim for the awesome video! 👍
Every video I am watching today shows rain. In Warsaw is raining so is in London. Nice trip with rainy days and water all over - good for nature, waterfalls are beautiful :)))
Years ago my riding buddies and I did some multistate motorcycle roadtrips, from home in Florida up to NC. We stayed at a couple motorcycle-only campgrounds, and used small tents. One morning it rained... then hailed! A buddy came to the pavillion later, saying he was in his tent during that hailstorm! Luckily our tents survived, no leaks in mine at least. Truly beautiful area.
When I was a kid we came to the Smokies every year, always the first week in June. Deep Creek was always our base camp from which we ventured out. I've been there several times as an adult, but it's been far too long since my last visit. Thanks for refreshing some wonderful memories. BTW, after a long day of hiking, swimming and tubing the frigid waters we would get a hot coin-op shower at the vendors just outside the park entrance.
What a cool little camper that he built. That's inspiring. I'm with you on the campsite cost. A little pricey. The butterflies & flower were beautiful though! I had that same step stool...I ran over it one time too many. Broke it, it was a really tough stool! RIP little stool...😮
Awesome camper Jeff! Enjoyed the video. Content and audio are more important than image quality. I noticed image clarity looked different but it did not detract from the overall viewing.
Welcome to NC. I live in the mountains at the foot of the smokies, born and bred. I wouldn't care to live anywhere else, but I do like to visit. Have a wonderful trip. I will be watching all of it, as usual.
Hey Slim!! Glad to see you have made into North Carolina we do have some beautiful mountains. Hope you checked out the swinging bridge at Grandfather Mountain. Prayers for continued safe travels 😊
Thanks for inadvertently brightening my day with your wonderful content. That homemade spider camper was really cool, too. That guy did a great job on that!
I'm glad to hear you pronounce Appalachia correctly. Most Americans have difficulty with that. Great video! Can't wait to get back on the road again myself.
I am Spyder rider, and I liked Jeff’s trailer. Neat design and would be fun to have a similar type trailer. Thanks for sharing this info with everyone.
