this might be the most difficult piece of music I've ever heard played on the flute..... fast fingers take practice, patience and a metronome but the harmonics...the tone colour.... the circular breathing....the articulation.... this piece sounds to me like it requires complete mastery over every. aspect. of the flute. damn
Wonders never cease. And Ms. Choi is indeed a wonder. I've heard 'em all, from Galway to Rampal to Sam Most to Herbie Manne to... the list goes on. But never before Ms. Choi have I heard a flutist with so broad a range of music in her, so vast a repertoire. She is music itself, which is the highest praise one can give to a musician.
Yes, the circular breathing, not to mention those moments where she plays whole chords on the instrument. Truly, she perks the ears of the gods, if not Greg Water's. Ha.
wow...just wow.... not just the Jethro Tull style circular breathing but she can hold notes for what seems like an eternity.... and the notes don't weaken...holding steady with lots of feeling....
Good heavens, this is a virtuosic tour de force! You make the flute sound for all the world like steam engine at times, even making the sound of a puffing steam locomotive in places, such as at around 1:15 and 1:55. You also make the most amazing train whistles, such as around 2:15. And then from 3:00 your miraculous circular breathing makes you sound like you do not need to breath at all. You play the whole piece with such energy, and then you end it with a piercing train whistle. Truly phenomenal, thank you. 🤩😍
I can't believe you studied with Bob Stallman. SO sad that he passed. He and his wife are friends of mine. Jasmine -- You are amazing. I heard Ian Clarke play this in person. You are a goddess. Wow Wow Wow. . .Just wow. .
How do you even do circular breathing on the actual flute?? I've practiced with a cup and a straw and been able to do it, then with a didgeridoo and I could do it too, but everytime I try with the flute I just can't get a sound out of it while storing air
Chic...chic...chic....le retour...."en train"......Magnifique de chez..... magnifique !!!!!! .....entre autre.....de 3.00 à 4.07.....incroyable !!!!! (en apnée...)
OMG!!!!!!! Even though I try to play the flute, I don’t think after hearing this I’ll ever be able to confidentially say “I play the flute!” AWESOME.❤️❤️❤️
Ouahhhh ! C'est ... c'est ... Jasmine Choi ! my school did this on our concert and we were ATROCIOUS. Like some parents said "Wow this is so impressive!" and it sounded like a bunch of 14 year old's playing random notes at random times
