Was a great day walking Aotea Track from Windy Canyon via Palmers Track onto Mt Hobson, Great Barrier's highest point, reviewing Mt Heale Hut then soaking in Kaitoke Hot Springs. Saw historic Oreville on the Whangaparapara road and summited Te Ahumata in search of the disused mine.

Did you know there is an offshore island paradise that is completely off-grid and is only a 30-minute flight or a five and half hour ferry boat ride from Auckland? Discover a part of New Zealand that is happy it didn't get on the fast-paced jet ride of modernization. It's a community with a free and easy lifestyle and it kind of gets under your skin and makes you start thinking about staying longer or at least visiting more, just to get away from the crime, the queues, and the overstimulation of modernism, it's really just how New Zealand used to be.

@@OutdoorsmanDave The government has come in with equipment to clean the river bed out. Record snows in the mountains above us and it is warming up. It is a wait and see situation but we'll get through it regardless. Thanks for asking. 🙏

Missing you 😢 I was just watching a creator share why he gave it away at 330k subs. Mikes now doing what I do, has his own adventures and films what he does spontaneously vs scripted and planned activities teaching viewers like you were. Less views but more personal enjoyment and so it’s sustainable ⛺️ Food for thought 🤔

@@OutdoorsmanDave must admit, I do miss it at times, however the effort to reward ratio isn’t there for me at the mo. Maybe I should do more camping in the pouring rain videos. 😂 I hope you are doing well.
@OutdoorsmanDave
@OutdoorsmanDave Год назад
There is absolutely no money for the creator, RU-vid gets it all but so many people are now saying I’m inspiring them…now there’s the reward. But watch this space, the fun police will shut down creatives like me trying to help people in this way 🥲.

Hi Dave, The feature I like best on the Fenix is the Hike mode, great for tramping. GPS is also good for off track exploring. Still learning how to work the different functions.

@@gregarmstrong5043 I don't know if mine has a fault but in hike mode, my elevation is shown in feet, it matters not if I set my watch to metrics, what's your experience, please?

Hi Dave, thanks for sharing this. Beautiful bush and amazing tracks. Great drills on the survival gear. DOC have done a great job on that place. Interesting about the 700 troops stationed there in WWII! (Although it would have been suicidal for the 700 troops if a large Japanese Force did land there! )Cheers Dave
