This is caused by the air con drain pipe draining water down the diesel filter onto the switch and over time it gives up. I put an extension pipe on short air con drain pipe.
My car has delayed power when accelerating after stopping. Sometimes, when it’s really acting up-I will push down on the accelerator to drive after stopping at a stop sign or red light and it will take 5-10 seconds for the fuel to kick in-it’s been dangerous at times. For an average car with an acceleration time of maybe 1-2seconds it easily clears the road it is crossing, but my car sometimes has a delayed acceleration time of up to 6 seconds and once I was stuck half across a main road barely moving forward whilst a car was speeding toward me at 80km hr-the driver had to slam their breaks and slow right down. I have since adjusted my driving during times when my engine is at maybe 10% of its usual acceleration power and had to revv it whilst in neutral then change the gear to drive when ready to take of, it’s the only thing that presets the car ready to safely and quickly take off when stationary. If I could afford it I’d try replacing the fuel/diesel separator as that’s the warning light which keeps coming on. When the light isn’t on the car drive very zoomy, but that is very rare to happen. Don’t know what to do. =(
I have a constant dashboard warning light with my Great Wall (turbo diesel automatic). I have had the fuel/diesel separator part flushed/emptied by an RAC mechanic-of which the light remained off for about 5 days and then turned back on. Ive noticed sometimes the warning light isn’t on if I start my car up on very early mornings particularly after a cold night(10C or below), but eventually will show after a half hr or so, also it doesn’t come on for about 70% of the time when I use my air conditioning. Is it a complicated job to check the warning sensor-or can anybody remove it and check if it’s faulty. I’m in Perth WA btw, if you are a mechanic in the Perth region I would like to bring it to you for a check.
