Please move your weld lead to where the nozzle is about 1/4-3/8 inch away from what your welding. If you’re worried about burning thru what you’re welding you can adjust the wire speed and voltage to compensate for that. You have too much stick out while welding.

Well done. For your next project add a heat engine that turns a fan, liquid pump, and generator. An outside air inlet inside your exhaust exit. Make sure the air is heated in pipes before entering the combustion chamber and with the excess energy from the generator use electrolysis to make hydrogen and oxygen. Make sure to use steal, copper, or stainless steel wool and maybe a p-trap on your separated inlet pipes. Enjoy

I appreciate ingenuity, I'm a power engineer so I really enjoyed this. My guess is the bottom pipe was drawing the fumes from the hot oil back to the blower pipe via venturi action in order for there to be flames coming out of the tee you drilled the holes in. I suspect there is a significant time edit from lighting the tissue paper to you actually boiling off oil at a temp that will produce flammable gas. Fun project though, good on you for trying a project like that, it was a respectable amount of time required! 👍
@jacogomez1093
@jacogomez1093 Год назад
Sadly it is much simpler. Fire can only occur when oxygen and fuel are mixed in the proper ratio, due to the heat in the combustion chamber, the used oil vaporizes, creating an oil atmosphere with very little oxygen (obviously only inside the combustion chamber) that cannot sustain a flame, the oxygen in the air injected by the "T with holes" in the chamber allows combustion only where there is sufficient oxygen, making it appear that fuel is coming out of the "T" but only air is comming out. Cody'sLab has a video that shows this phenomenon in a more controlled way (kinda like a lab setting i guess): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8jmX-TUQkx4.html

That's a great safety suggestion! Adding a carbon monoxide monitor when using a heater like this is a wise decision. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be produced when burning certain fuels, and it can be harmful if not detected in time. Having a monitor ensures you'll be alerted if there are any dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in the area, providing an extra layer of safety for you and those around. Safety should always be a top priority. 👍
@lmtn
@lmtn 8 месяцев назад
You're absolutely right! When using any heating device, especially indoors, proper ventilation and safety precautions are essential. Carbon monoxide, as mentioned earlier, can be a serious concern if not properly managed. It's vital to ensure that the area is well-ventilated, and if you're using a heater indoors, a carbon monoxide detector is a must to alert you to any dangerous levels of the gas. Safety should always come first, and using heating devices responsibly is crucial to prevent any risks to your health. Thank you for highlighting this important safety concern. 🙏

There are 2 bowls basically, one where the fuel is burned and the outside bowl around it to heat the air... the lower air intake flows air that goes into the house the top flows air into the burning chamber. The airflow is split and pushes air to both while keeping them separate. The problem with this design is that being too close to the heat exhast will cause 1st degree burns very quickly from the air alone, so having something that doesn't burn in the way of that airflow would be ideal.

Maybe experiment with mantles that glow white when heated by the flame, or fine stainless steel mesh screen that would glow orange/yellow color when the flame is inside the screen. Of course a clean smokeless burn would be ideal & low fuel consumption would be nice. Try waste cooking oil & motor oil or combinations of oil & other combustible liquids to clean up combustion, if oil smokes in a lamp. Maximize a tiny lamp light by surrounding the lamp with globe shaped glass jars filled with water (like an antique shoe cobblers lamp that took the light from 1 candle & magnified it many times). But I became aware of the fact that most engine oil contains toxic heavy metals that when burned are aerosolized into the room the oil is being burned in. It's a cool video and shows what can be done with limited tools and skill. Obviously this was not a pro-fabrication job, it was a quick and dirty way to use tools that a lot of us do have on hand, to get the job done. And many of us have tools that we haven't used enough to know how to get the best results from, but we don't get better unless we practice. Having said all this, I would probably post a HUGE Disclaimer on this video. Use at your own risk, proper ventilation required, leaks could kill you, not for children or stupid people to attempt, etc. etc. etc. This is an "adults" only project and by that I don't mean just "age". I mean that you have to be a mature person mentally and understand that there are dangers that go along with using a cancerous agent to heat your home with and that leaks will cause carbon monoxide to pile up, etc. etc. etc. It's a fun idea, with limited uses. Within those limits, it has it's place. Plus it's always fun to engineer anything and the process of working the bugs out is always a learning experience.

I don't know if it has been mentioned in the comments already but if you have to use galvanised steel please grind the galvanising off (wearing a dust mask) before welding as it causes not only a poor weld but also has many health risks breathing in the fumes.

Your average engine oil contains roughly 75% of basis oil (mineral and / or synthetic. The rest of it is composed by non-organic substances like metals (lead, barium, zinc) or other elements (phosphorus, sulfonates). Industries that burn waste oil like cement factories use filters.

But as many countries do is to stop free anything. It's all about controlling the people who have a brain. If we all could be bothered we'd all go get solar panels and come off the grid and then pay no fuel costs. But now in the UK you need planning permission to put solar panels on your roof. And if the UK wanted to go 1 step further is to convert to the American power of 110v Less power less consumption?? Less solar panels to go grid free. Anyway if people do find a good cheap way of running anything just don't tell anyone about it lol. 🤣🤣👍👍

You should hold your tip further away from the weld puddle. That red glow of the wire helps to preheat the weld metal and the less concentrated flow of shielding gas eases the transition to normal atmosphere, especially when you are welding on painted, rusty or dirty metal.

It seems like there has to be an easier way to build a heat exchanging oil burner. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for the parts you used in this build. Illegal in the USA ..many, many code violations. Pollution, carbon monoxide, waste oil byproducts, no scrubber and no venting. Add a scrubber and a venting system and check for poisonous glasses from dirty oil, sulfur dioxide, etc. Proper waste oil boilers go from 5000 to 20,000 dollars for a reason. You're close though. A few more safety and pollution devices added ( scrubbers are difficult to make and materials needed are expensive. A power venter is a pretty easy build even with safety shut downs for low flow. Pretty cheap too. Company called clean burn has a diagram of a scrubbing system ...I'm sure you could do a build for a few hundred dollars or less if you can machine parts.
