Here is my take on the video 1) Example of Mohit Joshi was valid but for the wrong reasons. The reason people like him are wanted is cause they have contacts and can help get business. It has less to do with the industry business process flow and more to do with how to get clients in the industry 2) Hard core consulting firms like the big 4 are already deploying AI to replace domain knowledge. The way that works is it takes confidential documents of companies and publically available knowledge and gives answers. To the extent that it will list out processes in a jiffy. So for a solution provider these things get available with little to no industry knowledge. So domain knowledge is already loosing its sheen, it was important a decade ago... not now as much

I have extensive experience in chemical manufacturing, retail and health-care. But no one asks me on these domain knowledges in interview board. They ask " have you worked on azure data factory", "AWS glue" and so on. They do not realizes that these tools can be aquired in no time for a 26 years of experience person. But still. I am layoffed for last 3 months. Even with so much technical experience, it is hard to find a job.

By the time an IT professional hits mid 30s, he/ she must have a working domain knowledge of at least 2 vertical and one service horizontal along with bringing in expert level deep domain knowledge of at least 1 service vertical or horizontal on the table. This isn't easy but isn't all that difficult either provide one is absolutely focused on the objective. One may find or get relevant opportunities to work in these vertical(s) and horizontal(s) or would have to actively seek such opportunities within the organisation or outside. This greatly helps in crafting out a clearly well defined career path for the next 7-10 years where the person gets to hone organisational expertise and become more of a high-value strategic resource rather than remaining just another drop in the sea of tactical white collar workers.
@sahanakumar8314
@sahanakumar8314 6 месяцев назад
what do you mean by service verticals and horizontals?
@desiborat
@desiborat 6 месяцев назад
@@sahanakumar8314The response to this question is a vast topic in itself and a whole book can be written on this topic alone but I'll try explaining briefly. Industry verticals are basically the broad categories of businesses bucketised into a group; e.g. BFSI is a vertical which contains all companies that are in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance space so that's a vertical. Industry horizontals are basically service lines which run across industry verticals. In simpler words, these are services which are required in all businesses; e.g. HRMS which is basically solution catering to managing HR services of an organisation. HR as a business function runs across all industry verticals or is present/ required in all different types of companies, be it a manufacturing company, a technology company, or a retail enterprise. The tech architecture or solutions must keep in mind the industry vertical a business operates in since different verticals or categories of businesses would work very differently and would have different use case and customer touchpoints. Solution or the tech architecture is the key driver and supporter of workflows and touchpoints in an organisation and hence, it needs to be tailored to not only drive efficiency, accuracy and lower costs but also drive ease of adoption, drive engagement, and allow for future transformation.

Hi Pavan, good video!! I have one question which is unrelated to the video. Most of my clients are from United States therefore I have work life imbalance. If I think of going for masters, there are three major show stoppers. 1. Masters in CS/data is academic oriented and less on industry skills (As per friends suggestion). 2. I know a lot of people personally who has done masters and returned to India because of H1B issues. 2. Tuition fee now a days in USA has grown by atleast 10-12 percent (not throwing random numbers) in comparison to pre covid time. Is there any way to work in USA without having a masters?
