"Great way to kick off the Cali season!" | SOUTH FORK MERCED 

The season in California got off to an early start this year, but early or not, I wasn't going to miss getting back after it! After making the rally south I managed to get right into it meeting up with a crew for the South Merced. It was one of the runs that I hadn't gotten to do before, so I was stoked to finally get to check it out. In the end it was the perfect way to kick things off being back in that Cali granite, paddling a weighted creek boat, and getting my first overnighter. South Merced is a great run to get a sense of what California can be like on the harder runs. Boulder gardens, some slides, and plenty of sweet rapids. There are very few times in the year as incredible as Cali season, and this was just the beginning.
