Filmed near Neptune Island off the coast of Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, my home state. I am proud we have so many of these wondrous animals in our waters. And one day I hope to go cage diving too....
Also only a stone's throw away from where the real shark footage in Jaws was filmed....Dangerous Reef, South Australia. Lots of seals, lots of sharks. Not a good place to capsize your boat.
Can't blame the guy for trying. No point pretending these beautiful creatures don't sometimes want to bite and eat us. They do. And have. But yes, that's why the cage is there. And it did its job. What an experience though. Bet it makes divers very careful about sticking their arms out the gaps in the cage....as for the shark, yeah, I imagine they don't much like breaking their teeth on galvanised steel. But lesson learnt.
