Great video - I was actually here with my family this summer of 1990 , I was 12 years old , we stayed at the Malcolm hotel now called the kings , remember going in the winter gardens of an evening listening to singers and my parents playing bingo , also the indoor market underneath the tower was amazing , clothes stalls , books , records and tapes etc , also joy land and the snail rides I went on dozens of times - we came here for 9 years running , last time was 1991 and then I returned on my own in 2010 and then 10 years later in 2020 - great memories
The old marina centre, two lane drag strip along the seafront, Tiffany's and The Longbar. So many great memories from a youth misspent in Yarmouth on many a friday or saturday night.
It was a different world back then. People were not walking about constantly texting each other or taking photographs on their mobile phones like today.
I reckon i would of been up the sea-front or on the beach when this was filmed. Being a kid in Great Yarmouth was brilliant.. wish it was like this now, its been ruined. Great days
Thank you so much for posting this, We have been going every year since 1985 and I tell my now wife how busy it used to be back in the day and she never believed me but this is great proof....great memories.
Great video. Brings back many good memories for myself, I was born and raised in Yarmouth and would have been 10 in 1990. Sad to say that Pleasure Beach is now a shadow of its former self and Regent Bowl burnt down a couple of years ago
I’ve lost count on how many times we’ve watched this video over the last few years, it brings back so many memories, thanks so much for uploading it 😄😎👍
Great video. Loved going to Yarmouth as a kid and still do now. Would love to see footage of the old world of wax which sat on the corner opposite the Britannia pier. Think it’s a restaurant now.
Omg!!! THANK YOU for this video!!! If my Dad was here today he would absolutely love this. We used to go nearly every year when Gt Yarmouth was in its heyday & stay at a place called Cherry Tree Farm!! This video has brought back so many happy memories, thank you! I’m 50 now but feel like a kid watching this!! I remember once going there & we all walking down the front trying to get away from the swarms of green fly that took over 1yr 😬! The Ted Rogers show 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻incredible how a video can transport you back in time to happy places 😀 great music too,I’m keeping this video, thank you.👏🏻👏🏻
@@funjuror did you really??? That place as a child was absolutely superb. My 1st visit we stayed in the chalets but after that we “upgraded” my father would say, to a caravan. Did you have anything to do with the It’s A Knockout that used to be done there? I also remember the mini golf course there at the entrance & I can remember the place before the indoor pool was built! God I’m old but the memories of that place are priceless
Great Yarmouth Norfolk looks very cool back in 1990 I live in derby city but the last time I was in Great Yarmouth Norfolk seeing my family from fab till 10 th of June
Great video. I went to Great Yarmouth 17 years on the bounce from the late 60’s. Been going back over the past 5 years as the place holds so many happy memories. I wish I could go back to those early (simpler) days.
Car ride looks like a MK2 Vauxhall caviller, my granddad had one, I've been on that log flume so many times and it's still there. The bowling alley burnt down a few years ago sadly but the model village is still there
Awesome video buddy 👍 . I used to go on holiday to Yarmouth for a week every summer from aged 2-15....was deffo there Summer 1990 aged 9 😁. Loved picking out things long gone or closed, like "Wally's windmill" and the Space ship with the waving E.T at Joyland, or the Ghostbusters walkthrough ride with simulator. Brilliant stuff. I'm going for a day out tomorrow as it goes 👍....all my kids love the place still, even though it is a shadow of its former self.
Cant be a bank holiday the windows were still in the holkholm they were the Best time back when people WOULD talk to each other now they walk around looking at a phone s ,,,,, if on,ly they new what tbey missed ,,,,,great bit of film,
I’ve been to Great Yarmouth in September 2003 is over 20 previous years ago when I was aged 27 years old at the time 🕰️ and it was sunny ☀️ at the time 🕰️. It’s in east Anglia in England 🏴. Plenty of seagulls, buses 🚌 🚍 🚎, trains 🚂 🚆 🚊 , cars 🚗 🚘 🚙 , people and it’s good 👍 fun 🤩 there. The ITV region is called Anglia Television 📺. Train 🚊 🚆 🚂 company in 2024 is called GA - Greater Anglia. There are plenty of platforms at Great Yarmouth railway 🚃 station 🚉. 👍 🏝️ 🏖️
Its a mock paddleboat steamer. It used to be open to buy tickets from for some boating type attraction before the log flume was put it. They removed it all together in the early 2000s I think..
I was born in this craphole in 73...fortunately moved to Stoke-Holy-Coss (4.5 miles from Norwich...home of Colmans' Mustard) in 81. Had a nice childhood then worked here again in the mid 90s during my uni hols. Left the UK for expat land in 2010 and never looked back. Now, Gt Y is worse than ever.
