Smash 4 had the best doubles gameplay and matches. Smash Ult may be better all around competitively but the way knock back works (harder to do team combobs and follow ups), and not being able to run through other characters really killed doubles... We still have Melee doubles to enjoy but Smash 4 had the best doubles dynamic and scene of the series I think.

sonymicronin That was one of the first things I thought when I watched early Ultimate footage. Despite melee’s and sm4sh’s differences, they both had slower knockback. Makes for more combos, but they’re very slow-charty (cough ESAM cough). Makes for staler gameplay that relies more on option reading OUT of combos instead of during them.
