how is messi more complete? cr7 can do everything messi can, but i dont remember messi being able to adapt to different teams such as psg, or different leagues such as ligue 1 which is a joke of a league, messi cant defend, cant do headers, cant do power shots, cr7 can do everything messi can starting from playmaking(he got 2nd ahead of messi in 2008 btw), goal scoring, free kicks(theyre equal in free kicks tbh, cr7 missed a lot due to taking free kicks from very far away and they only have 1 free kick difference), skills, dribbling, rly good passing and whatever else messi can. @@gourmondal5812 i know, I was a kid and really looked up to him and was so disappointed in him and wasn't aware he took them back then until he got kicked out of the USA world cup and then it was well known. And you see the Maradona story and it explains what happens. He got mixed up with the wrong people when he was playing for Napoli and got addicted to them and couldn't stay off them then. Maradona could do anything with a ball, but after he played for Napoli and then his Country again you could tell he wasn't the same as before.

Puskas was better. What him unique was that he was a truly great midfield general who could score goals, and then in his 30’s a truly great centre forward able to score goals as the spearhead, and I never saw another player who could be so outstanding in both roles.

Football was much less competitive back in the days. Very few teams could realistically advance to quarter finals let alone winning the cup, and you have most teams featuring amateur players. Because modern day football has so much money involved, it attracts so many more talents to play the sports and make the competition tougher. Pele was a standout player for sure, but against a much weaker competition in general. And of course if you compare Pele and Messi by eye test, it's not even close. Lots of players today are better than the greats in the past.

The nice thing is that there is no objective way to measure who was "best". Best to some people are titles, then to the same only certain titles. Best to others is technique and on field play and how that player made them feel. For me, at this moment Messi is best ever. That could change. A few years ago I thought Maradona and even Baggio/Zidane. Then Ronaldo, the original one. For some reason I never thought Ronaldo the 2nd one. Literally "let's his football do the talking for him" and has collected an impressive amount of trophies. I know the Uefalona days. Those were true too. Barcelona received a lot of gifts. So did Madrid though, and France in the last tournament as well. It's a reality. Overall at 35 the little midget Messi is still dribbling at top speed past bigger players who lean on him regularly. He also sets up a lot of goals, more than Ronaldo7. Ask MBappe. Messi set up half of his goals this season alone. Messi might be able to play at this level for another 2-3 years. If he retires as a champion, then add that to his legacy. Someone will come along who is better. That's progress.
