Master Lee is one of the most fluid nunchaku practitioners that I have had the privilege to watch. I am a Sensei in Shotokan ( Goju Ryu) and easily recognize the skill he exhibits. Osu.

I appreciate your position and the respect in which you deliver it. I may have missed hitting the mark with my point. Each individual, regardless of where there are from in the world, follows the same patterns when it comes to motion, Whether it's kicking, punching, golfing or playing tennis. The patterns are universal. There is no reinventing the wheel. These patterns of motion existed even before your masters started studying them. They are inherent to all humans that are doing any movement.

Thanks for the comment, I didn't see where you posted a video, however, the chux you are seeing here are plenty lethal. I love people that make comments on subjects they know so little of. Thanks for playing!!

Yes, with determination you can do anything with anything. It is all a matter of what you are willing to put up with and deal with in the process. I learned to surf on a board that had cracks and would waterlog immediately. It was the only board I could surf with until I got tired of fighting with it and had Rozzo make me a board. I then wondered how I ever learned to surf at all with my old board. So yes, you could, do you want to? I can ship the chux anywhere you are.

I consider myself a "traditional" nunchaku practicioner, so I know demos like this are supposed to rile me up and make me go on some sort of rant, but I really like these videos. Mr. Barden obviously is highly talented and practiced extremely hard to get to the point where he can not only demonstrate at this skill level, but ALSO to be able to explain it. Last time I checked, this sort of mastery was the goal of martial arts, no?
@BlacknBlueVideo
@BlacknBlueVideo 15 лет назад
Because with Prochux you can hold the chuck anywhere you want still have complete control over the chux. Unlike traditional long chain chuck which can only be held high to gain alittle control over them.

For you, I like that you added that, for you. Most people make a more absolute statement. To anyone that has spent the time to really make an assessment like yours, wouldn't because they know that the shorter string is actually very valuable. I bet if you spent even 1 hour on them you would change your assessment. (an hour with tutoring) But, that's why there is a comment section, to show what each other knows or in this case doesn't know. Thanks for the comment, comeback and play again.

The reason he is wearing a gi and a blackbelt is because he is a MARTIAL ARTIST. You who have nothing better to do in your life than criticize that which you do not understand. Master Lee Barden is a 7th degree blackbelt, and has been studying the martial arts longer than you have been alive. So when you have learned some respect for those who came before you, please come back to my pages and leave your comments, but until then go and train and you learn the meaning of respect!
@Keeponchuckin

First of all, us 'yank' martial artists are not fat, we are built like westerners. Its amazing how tall and muscular one's build can be when not raised on a diet of fish and rice. Secondly, prochux are designed for speed and ease of control, to train freestyle and technique, lets see you do these moves with something as big as your wrist. And trust me, these things HIT as hard as any normal nunchaku.
@BlacknBlueVideo
@BlacknBlueVideo 16 лет назад
Continued: My take on it is that a traditional martial art is un-modified from it's original form. i.e Shotokan Karate, Japanese Ju Jitsu, Shaolin Kung Fu. A modern Martial art is one that has been forward developed from it's orginal form. BJJ, JKD. You could say that Akido and Judo are therefore must be considered modern martial arts. Modern martial arts are more applicable for today becasue we no longer wear Samuri armour or farm with rice flails etc.

No problem at all. As you can tell, Prochux don't "look" like stereotypical nunchaku. Master Barden will ship them to you labeled as "puzzle stix". You can get the string a special way so it is two loops that hook together, they ship seperated. :) Message Master Barden and ask for a set of puzzle stix. You WILL get your Prochux! They are worth it. Message me for more info if you want.

No chains those are ropes. They are lighter than most older style chucks but these were designed for speed and the short rope allows for more control of the chux.

Part 2. Different regions of the world took pieces from the bigger picture and called it their own. Korea kicking, Japanese punching and lower kicks, Chinese flow. There is a constant between all the Arts and that is flow follows precise patterns. That is where the Older than Tradition part I was referring to came in. The newer than tomorrow statement refers to, if you study and follow the inherent patterns, you can progress to the fullest potential of the art because, it is a Truth. Thanks.

I would love to see your video. I personally don't want to get into a knife fight to find out that it is dangerous. I can get as close to reality as I like, stay my ass out of trouble and be just fine without having my teeth knocked out for fun. I respect those that do. If it is brought to me, I will respond in full. I learned the Martial Arts to keep from getting hurt, not to volunteer for it.

Watched his daughter and him perform in Tampa and took a class at the Superfoot convention. This was my favorite part of the weekend. Love it. Yes, jimmymoltesanti, it shows he's not a narrow minded Traditionalist. He isn't doing Nunchaku, he is doing ProChux. If you were looking at what he was doing instead of looking only to be critical, you would have seen the difference. So I guess you are right, look how he spells Chux, it shows he is making a distinction.
@uvmaster

It leaves you speechless because you don't have 33 years of experience for a reference point. Matt is good at the martial arts. He is OK at the chux. I can't wait to see your video. I won't argue with you, there is no point. You have already in your mind what you think is good. Jesus could walk up to you now and tell you the truth but that would not change what you think. Good luck with your vision of the future.

@tybilly You can freestyle with any kind of chucks you want. When I was a kid I would use homemade chucks. The chucks in this video have a shorter cord than traditional Okinawan Nunchaku. The shorter cord might be more suited for free style. But I say, use what you have.

Ability speaks for itself. You need some blueblood piece of paper to validate yourself? Wow, thank goodness my Instructor was of the mind that all you need is truth in technique and you will accomplish all that you set your mind to. Obviously in the real world he was right. well if you want ALL the power to land on the target then you have to hit flat on it so that it bounces back. if it skims across the target, then that means some of the energy is used for the hit, while the rest is so that it continues the motion.

So what arts would you consider authentic? Brazilian Jiujitsu Jeet Kune Do Ed Parker Kenpo MMA From Wikipedia: Martial arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. While they may be studied for various reasons, martial arts share a single objective: to defeat one or more people physically and to defend oneself or others from physical threat. What is considered a real authentic martial art?

Being an engineer i made a pair of prochux perfectly balanced as Master Barden has shown them to be. Hand rolls are easy but how can you do wrist rolls, finger rolls and ferris wheels with such a short cord seems to me its just a stick thats why its easy to control.

I wish someone would do a nunchaku real fight aplication video that showed real hard core sparring with other stick weapons and few rules so they could kick punch and grapple.Like Dog Brothers attitude of " If you see it taught you see it fought" new pro style chucks (short string) are easy to control and more consistant. I have a feeling I will have to make the equivalent from a tougher material such as rattan to withstand the rigors of real contact sparring. May make video myself.
