This is without question the Greatest Super Bowl Show Ever. Prince was told before going on stage that it was raining he said " Can you make it rain HARDER" Prince didn't do just his own songs which is outstanding. This was a LEGEND AND TRUE TALENTED PROFESSIONAL!!! Also a world class Guitarist. It is raining heavy yet it looks like the rain is missing Prince. This is an immortal performance!!!

That was real rain. The lightning in the beginning was special effects seen on tv. After the band was done playing all their instruments died because they were water logged. Amazingly they didn’t die during the show.

FINALLY 💜right in time for The Purple Rain 40th Anniversary…Bro…was that even a question?? #prince is absolutely, unquestionably the best halftime show…when Prince graciously allowed a football game at his thunder and rainstorm outdoor concert😁…The NFL President is still talking about this performance to this day.

This halftime show is EPIC! Prince was FIRE 🔥 before there was 🔥 fire! Actual rain that poured harder and harder and then - Purple Rain…in the rain. This was magical and beyond awesome. Good catch on the slam of the microphone. A lot of reactors miss that. I wish they would all catch it. Especially those that insist he isn’t singing live. Those of us who are more than casual fans of The Purple One know that he would NEVER lip sync a live performance

He was a musician’s musician. Even if they didn’t particularly like his music, they respected his talent. Most people would do only their hits. He did 4 other artists hits: Queen (We Will Rock You), Proud Mary (Ike & Tina Turner version), All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix version), and Best of You (Foo Fighters).

Yeah it was real rain. That’s why he had the wrap on his head. And the stage wasn’t slip resistant. And they all has high heels on. The forecast said it wasn’t supposed to rain.

Good reaction💜. Prince live was often quite different then Prince studio. When Prince played this, it was soon after wardrobe malfunctiongate and the censors were at high alert. So when Prince played his guitar behind the giant sheet, his guitar was a giant phallic symbol and was Prince snubbing the censors (who he had a longtime feud with). Also the Foo Fighters were hanging with Neil Peart and Rush when unbeknownst to them Prince was covering Best of You. Someone ran out to tell them Prince was covering them at the Superbowl. They said "cool"!. He did this because they covered Darling Nikki without telling him. Prince was the only artist (as far as i know)who added multiple covers to his Superbowl setlist. Sampling Queen, Dylan, CCR AND Foo Fighters. All live! No lip syncing like so many including you know who... Or air banding like Red Hot Chili Peppers(embarrassing). Real music played by real musicians. Legendary performance. Master at his craft!! RIP Prince 🥰💜💜

Don't know what happened to my original comment, so I will try AGAIN... This reaction brought back a lot of memories...we were a young, newlywed military couple, with an infant baby girl in tow back in 1984, assigned to Fort Hood. There was a movie theater on post that cost ONLY $1. The catch was, the SAME movie would play over and over again for a MONTH! One particular month, PURPLE RAIN was the movie showing, so EVERY week we went (baby girl always slept through it) to see it 'cause we couldn't afford to go anywhere else.🤣 LOVED me some PRINCE and I'm sure hubby didn't mind seeing Apollonia. GREAT MEMORIES.

It poured rain and they wanted him to stop playing because they were concerned about his safety but he just went off!!! Dude was so impressive. Besides being an incredible singer, dancer, performer he played 27 instruments

My father (who spent most of his life being racist (that really upset me most of my life)) said himself - out of all the years of watching football and these halftime shows - Michael and Prince were his favorites. Then he passed away but i knew he found his heart. That made me happy. (He knew who they were from all of the posters in my room) 😊
