@@shawnk1899 he was at the back of the pack, laid back and got in the gas super early. As long as you don't pass before the start/finish line, it's all legal. At anything other than a superspeedway, he would've passed a couple cars, but nothing like that. The restrictor plates make the cars slower to get to race speed, if you hang back and get an early start, you can pass a lot of cars. He might have even been a wave-around and was still trying to catch up when they took the green flag and it just worked out for him. I can't remember exactly.

I personally found the two-car tandem way more exciting than the pack racing at superspeedways. Could never understand why others preferred lap after lap of cars all lined up with very little passing. I was hella sad when they put an end to the tandem.
@formercoach1202
@formercoach1202 5 лет назад
Safety was the reason to get rid of the tandam racing. The second car in line could basically see nothing, so it was a safety issue. I did prefer that to some of the other forms of racing we have seen at the plate tracks. NASCAR really needs to figure out what they are doing with plate racing.

THANK YOU for the obvious great time and effort you put into these videos. I'm not a real fan of Nascar or F1 style racing, but you do provide some pretty good FREE ENTERTAINMENT!!!! Even though I've owned a few older muscle cars and have been to some drag racing events which I see as instant gratification in person, I rarely watch it on tv or live streams. Occasionally, I'll sit through some of the 20-45 minute highlight shows but I've got absolutely no patience, and could never understand why anyone would travel for hours to spend big money, or give up a Sunday afternoon to sit in front of a television, and watch cars drive around in circles for hours. I mean no offense to any any of you fans, maybe it's a bit of jealousy I haven't been able to figure out and enjoy.

You could add Logano's pass at Homestead last year, and maybe his pass on Truex at Martinsville too.

good video but I was hoping to see that Atlanta race were Kurt Busch past seven cars and one straight away that was probably one of the best news I've ever seen

I’d like to have 5 minutes with the moron that took Larry Mac off the play by play. He literally has it all. Great announcer voice, lot of knowledge, super classy, good sense of humor.

You should try to find Jeff Gordon's pass of both Rusty Wallace AND Mark Martin in the Watkins Glen chicane (Turns 5,6,7,8) - in a 3-car sequence that started as Gordon-Wallace-Martin, Gordon passes both to turn the 3-car sequence into Gordon-Martin-Wallace. A pass that is virtually unheard of using cars not truly designed for that course. Gordon took the win that day. I think it was sometime around 1996-1998.
