West Indies were 14/2 after the Powerplay and 32/2 in 10 overs in the 2012 @T20WorldCup final. Then Marlon Samuels happened 💥 Is this the best T20I innings ever? 🤔
@@Polash0007 Why you always drag dhoni in here? Stats odi Dhoni - 350 match 10,773 runs Samuels 207 match 5,606 runs Dhoni is much better And Dhoni plays at middle order still he is this much better Dhoni odi average - 50 Samuels odi average - 32 Huge difference T20 also Dhoni average - 37 Marlon average - 29 Dhoni plays at no.5 -7 still better Don't underestimate dhoni 💪 He is not playing that much good cause he is now 39
Life isn't about "how much". It's more about "what". It wasn't the Gayles or Pollards who contributed in the both T20 World Cup wins. It was Marlon Samuels on both occasions. The heroics of Bratwaite, Browne and Bradshaw (2002 CT final) will be celebrated by cricket fans forever. Thank you for posting this video!
One of the most courageous innings I have ever seen. He actually hit Malinga for 5 huge sixes. That by itself is extraordinarily. Marlon knows his abilities very well, it's why he talk so much soon as the opportunity arises .Lolz.
No absolutely not everyone. As an Australian fan I had a horrifying experience of 2012 semfinal and 2014 group stage. Even most Indians hate west indies after 2016 World Cup. By hate I mean the emotional hate in cricket. Not any personal hate.
@@professor7098 Well because he misremembers it. It didn't happen suddenly. Samuels scored 78 out of 108 runs by WI. It was Darren Sammy who gave a sudden spike in the run rate afterwards.
Ah finally.. thanks icc for remembering this innings. This was one of the greatest t20 innings. ICC please create a digital library or anything kind of to watch these classic icc matches.
78 out of 108 in a t20 World Cup final... WoW & then something similar happened in the final of 2016 T20 WC... to understand the importance of these 2 innings just have a conversation with South African cricket fans 😁
He always performed in big games but in the build up to big games such as finals or semi-finals he made it really hard to keep him in the team because he was so inconsistent and poor when not called upon. And he used to frustrate West Indies fans because he would always show his worth and talent in big games but never seemed to perform on route to the final
@@thealphaandtheomega8449 nah ipl is just t20 and not every cricket match is a tournament he was one of the greatest all rounders i have ever seen along with kallis and ben stokes maybe they both weren't at the level of kallis but they were better than most batsman and most bowlers just like kallis
I remember this match. Till 12th over in WI innings it looked like it’s going to be an easy win for Sri Lanka. This was a gem of an innings on a big stage by Samuels
Guys see this cameraman running faster than athletes in a race while recording ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YVZOtVNgIuo.html you wont be dissapointed
He was the reason West Indies won those two T20 championship. He showed up in those finals. I know Carlos hit the four 6's, but Samuels was on 85 looking on
Hosts were the favourites. Especially when windies were struggling at 50 for 2 in 12 overs... But samuels smashed the game right there and windies carried the momentum.. Loved their victory dance and kudos to the crowd for being sporty ..
Finally got this to see,it wasn't available on RU-vid! Great innings by Marlon, one man show it was🔥 Sammy has great sportsmanship,he came n punched the glove after he got out
Absolutely one of the best innings under pressure, playing away from home. Moreover Sri Lanka was playing in their home conditions, so undoubtedly one of the best knocks I've seen from Samuels! His stats don't speak for him but he had the talent to score more in his career, certainly a match winner on his given day!
Samuels was the reason behind West Indies winning 2 WT20. He contributed in both 2012 and 2016 finals. He never got enough appreciation that he deserved.
He is marlon samuels He is a big match player,he is not made for quarter finals, semi finals... He is made for finals... Two world cup finals man of the match where other batsmen were struggling in a big time....Big up the Jamaican The land of entertainers🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I know but it worked out well because they lost this one they had the motivation to do it again in 2014 T20WC and to win the final by hitting a six against india
I was watching the game and, Marlon Samuels took it to the SriLankans bowlers them. Marlon Samuels is a great batsman on any given day, that inning must be rated against every other innings.Great knock Marlon Samuels,we know that you are great batsman.
I still remember the evening the night he played that knock..and its the innings that is still into my memory afresh...I do feel that it's the best innings I have seen so far at International level,, also Ben stokes innings was equally good in World cup final as well as ashes 4 test
Such a great talent that never fulfilled his potential. Sparks of magic in all formats of the game but so inconsistent at the same time. Honestly in my opinion it was his subconscious mind and arrogance that kept his talents at bay where he could of been of of the greats! Thanks for the memories and contributions MS!
During his dismissal he scored almost 80% of his team score, Wat an innings under pressure,i remember being scared that its gonna be a cakewalk for SL with their home advantage but unexpectedly SL crumbled at middle overs and marlon contributed one wicket also.No doubt this is the greatest overall performance in t20 cricket considering the event.
Yes, Greatest innings ever. Smashing Malinga by clearing the leg shows how much expertise he had. He studied what could be done about the Malinga Threat. He found an answer. Not just that. He planned and executed it too.
Its a mixed bag for me. He showed too much to be underrated and I rate him highly even in test cricket. He was a Wisden cricketer of the year in 2013. At his best he looked like a legend and could have developed into an all time great. He debuted in tests at 19 with I think one first class match behind but he went and practiced with the West Indian team before the 2000 tour of Australia and was picked that way.....I think. Check out his first ODI century v India at aged 21 or 22.
Still remember this final, after that initial collapse, it seemed that Sri Lanka were untouchable and then Samuels happened along with some gritty bowling by the Windies.
I saw this match live and it felt like Marlon was playing in a different pitch....unreal innings under immense pressure.... SL just capitulated in response...probably the best innings in any format finals!!!!
This was possibly thee best worldcup knock might be even better than 2016 this was a time when malinga was nearly unplayable let alone getting sixes off of him that was almost unheard of
Some crickets are great and some have had great moments. Others pile up runs but when the team really really needs some runs they often fall short. I am sure Rohit Sharma, a brilliant batsman by the way, would trade in one of those centuries he scored in the last world cup for a 75 in the game India was knocked out.
@@deosaranharridath9899 ..Samuel's Character blunted his great talent,, people in the Caribbean dislike him, saying he is a show-off, he carelessly ran out Lara in his final innings in his home Twn. Trinis hate his guts, and to be honest, not even his homeland [Jamaica] he seems to garner much love, reason i say this? I've never seen him called up to play for the Jamaica Tallawah in the CPL. you're perfectly right, nuff talent, rotten character,, I say this as a fellow Jamaican who would have loved to see him [Samuels] reap FROM his great talent, but a leopard cannot change it's spots.
This was one of the best inning backed by below Sachin VS pak Chennai test 136 Lara vs Australia 153 Bridgetown Kohli VS pak t20 wc final Steve Waugh VS africa 120 world cup These are some greatest innings
