The recommendation to consider nouns like "φίλος" more as the exception than the rule, is very helpful. This is the first time that I have heard this and now, this way of thinking about it makes the plural much easier to remember. I just wish someone had told me a long time ago. Σας ευχαριστώ πολύ!

Έχω μόνη μια φίλη στην Ελλάδα. Αλλά, στην Αμερική, έχω πολλές φίλες. Eυχαριστώ πολύ για αυτή την μάθημα. I have a question about the use of friends. If we do not wish to distinguish between male and female friends, but just friends(who are both male and female), what form of plural do we use in the normative and accusative?

@@greeklessonsonlinevideos from my visits to Greece, I know the culture leans toward a patriarch as does America. However in America, we don't have genders related nouns. We would just say friends, which can mean both men and women. Guessing, I would say maybe use the plural masculine in Greek for mixed "gender" of friends?
@ΜαθαίνωΕλληνικά

@@greeklessonsonlinevideos, nice question by Shannon. In this case could Shannon say "παιδιά"? (Shannon from what I understand Greek people often use this in the same way that Americans would say "guys" for a group of mixed genders.

Ευχαριστώ πολύ για το υπέροχο μάθημα. I have been learning Greek for just over 7 months. I have not yet fully mastered always remembering the rules for when to use the accusative form and the rules for plurals but your lessons are such a great tool for revision and a very clear explanation and slowly I think I am getting the hang of it. The example I came up with for both the nominative and he accusative was: Ο φίλος μου ακούει. Ακούω τον φίλο μου. Οι φίλοι μου ακούνε. Ακούω τους φίλους μου.

Hi, I have a question. What is the difference between σαββάτῳ vs σαββάτων? What is the rule for σαββάτῳ is singular while σαββάτων is plural?
@greeklessonsonlinevideos
@greeklessonsonlinevideos 6 месяцев назад
Σαββατω with an -ι under the -ω doesn't exist anymore since this is ancient greek. It is dative singular form.

Sorry if this is a useless question but why at 7:21 is it αδερφές, is that just a different spelling?
@ΜαθαίνωΕλληνικά
@ΜαθαίνωΕλληνικά 2 года назад
Sister (η αδελφή) is a feminine noun that ends in ή. The rule is feminine nouns that end in ή is to: 1. Change the article from ή to οι, 2. And the ending ή to ές Therefore the plural of sister in greek is οι αδελφές. Give it a rewatch from 3:47 for a better explanation and good luck with your Greek studies David!
