Buttram..an EXCELLENT actor. His dialogues with Eddie Albert were second to none. The writers and directors of that time knew just how to tailor parts for each actor.
Exactly why he lived in Hooterville!! He probably held the deed for everyone’s property! The running gag was he always had what Oliver wanted on his truck!
Yes and in real life he was a republican who wrote speeches for Reagan. So yes he would be good at playing huckster con man. I think that is called type casting.
Mr. Haney my fav. He always just happend to have. That shit ya needed at a high price. But cheaper than that 5hr. Ride to town. Cracked me up everytime.
mr haney is an honest man.i even wrote a book about it.you can have it for only $26.59.and i will throw in two chickens and a cow if you order today.and of coarse you will need some hay for that cow.
I 10000 % agree.!! I luvved Mr.Haney...ALSO Hank Kimball was GREAT !! in his role..Sam Drucker's Store was always entertaining around the pickle barrel...Dont forget about the ZIFFLES..? Mr.Douglas got his tractor working like Johnny Cash with one part at a time..WELL its a 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 etc etc..From Cornfield County I give GREEN ACRES a well deserved SALUTE !!!!!..🐄
Mr. Haney was an entrepreneur. He not only knew exactly what Mr. Douglas always needed, but never overcharged him for a single thing. Well, he did kind of screw him on that tractor, it never did run right.
@CaliforniaCheez Your right, I don't remember Haney selling to anyone else, other than Mr. Douglas. Haney was the former owner, and in one episode involving the electric lines, (so Douglas didn't have to climb the pole), Haney wanted to charge Douglas more money, because Haney claimed the pole was on his property.
I love jethro, tall and great looking man my hero, granny super funny great actress, I think she was hee haw , once Mr haney ,my favorite part of Green acres
Somebody help me I'm lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 poor Oliver I love Mr. Haney THE WORLD'S FUNNIEST SWINDLER/CON MAN OF ALL TIME HE REALLY ADDED PLENTY LAUGHS TO THE SHOW AND AND I LOVE HIS VOICE AND HE'S FROM GOOD OLE ALABAMA
Green Acres is the place to be...Farm living is the life for me...Land spreadin' out so far and wide, keep Manhattan just give me that countryside. New York is where I'd rather stay...I get allergic smelling hay...I just adore a penthouse view... Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue. The chores: The stores: Fresh air: Times Square: You are my wife: Goodbye city life: Green Acres we are there! :-)
Hey did you guys know that Arab is from Mississippi he is now preaching I believe Mississippi should have been little Hollywood I believe at least 60% of actress-singer stars is for Mississippi
@@robbyjones7631 ....WRONG ! How many times are you going to incorrectly mention this ? Alvey Moore played Hank Kimbal and was the County Agent. The guy that came up to the fence was the power line installation employee - NOT Hank Kimbal
@@jamesm.3967 In the pilot episode, Oliver Douglas was seen as a lawyer in New York City. He lived in an apartment building with a balconey and grew vegetables in large pots. He always had the vision of seeing plants grow from the earth. Somehow, he found the farm for sale from Mr. Haney (known as "the old Haney place") and decided to give-up the city life for the farm. It is mostly explained in the opening theme song. The "Gentleman Farmer" analogy is correct and is what makes the whole show so absurd.
+Marchant2 -- I definitely agree with you. This was my favorite TV comedy, people I've know over the years either hated it or loved it. The writers must of taken some lessons from the Marx Bro's since there's so many similarities with the characters. Mr. Douglas plays the intelligent & often frustrated Groucho, Mr. Haney plays the swindling fast buck Chico & Lisa, Eb, Hank Kimbal, & especially Arnold the pig borrow bits & pieces of Harpo. The witty, quick hitting unexplained jokes & hilarious absurdities seem to be borrowed right out of the Marx Brothers play book. Watch some of the EARLY Marx Brothers movies (the later ones weren't that good) & then some Green Acres & see if you catch some of the style of humor that I think is very similar.
Yes, and yet, as much as Mr. Douglas is frustrated by the silliness, he can't help but adopt some of their phrases, such as at 7:04 when he refers to a "lawyer stand" that had been proposed to him earlier by the Monroe brothers.
After the series, Heney went on to a very distiguished career with the Military Industrial Complex, selling high end "weapons systems" to the US forces, including the F-35 fighter plane and the V-22 Osprey.
The tractor is a Fordson with 'Hoyt-Clagwell' showing on the radiator head. But here, the sound is from a 2-cylinder John Deere and the Fordson is a 4 cylinder tractor. And the tractor isn't gonna pull much with the lugs removed from the drive wheels. They're smooth.

Mr. Haney IS THE SUPREME POPE of every antique dealer, swap meet dealer, yard sale person, etc. in the world! HE IS OUR LEADER!!! AN INSPIRATION FOR US ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally, I wouldn't trust him with a red hot stove, but never matter.....BRILLIANT! GENIUS!!!!
Fred Ferd We should unleash Mr. Haney on Trump, and the entire Republican Party. In half an hour he'd have them paying for a universal health care system, better education, better welfare, and lower taxes for the middle class on down. In an hour he'd probably have them agreeing to a permanent minimum wage of $21.00 an hour, paying for all hate groups to be deported, to make DACA permanent, and to have a Constitutional amendment quickly added saying that Trump is to be permanently disqualified from ever being President again.
It was the nasal voice, the chizzzlinh wizzzzling deceitful manner treating the customer as though (it) was the most stupid creature ever to walk, combination that won the Haney award. My brothers still refuses to wear Hanes underwear since they dont trust that it wont fall apart at the axis from rust. M. IL. USA. 🇺🇸
Ja Ja will be 100 next year in 2017 on 2-6-17. Eddie made it to 99 then died. HAPPY 100TH JA JA - EVA GABOR!!! WOW your the last to live, hope you are well XXXOOOXXXOOO!!! long live Green Acers. the only 2 left of Gilligans Island are Ginger & Mary Ann
I agree with @B Davis. This show was surreal. It was as if the whole town was conspiring against Mr. Douglas. One of the best and most original shows on TV EVER. And I also loved the County Agent. "Good Morning! Well, it's not exactly a good morning... " LOL.
Ian Monam I couldn't agree more.TV today is a mess compared to those days of real enjoyment.Everyone could sit and watch together now you have to pay attention to what is said or how much or little one may be dressed .
Google pat buttram roasting rich little almost had a stroke , hilarious comedic genius! ! Thanks to da uploader you've made me laugh so bloody hard❤❤❤🤪🤪🤪🍺🍺🍺😝😝😝😫😫😫❤❤❤❤❤
@@justinstearns9723 ....also, the episode where Mr. Douglas is trying to get his apples to market - and needs the truck. well, the truck breaks down and they go to a little cafe to try to call for a repair truck. During this Lisa Douglas proceeds to show the cook in the cafe how to make hotcakes, and cuts them out of a big slab on the griddle with a coffee can lid. Turns out that the shape is exactly like a head gasket - Oliver gets a big smile on his face - and the last scene of the episode shows the truck driving down the road with the new "head gasket" installed ! ! too funny
See that Radar prop on Haneys truck.? Anyone from the 1960s should Recognize it. It originally had a tinted color wheel that spon around. It was made to shine on a Christmas tree to make it glitter more in the window. My parents bought one when I was 10 years old. Where they bought I don't know because when you are a little kid all you are thinking about is what you got for Christmas. I talked to Haneys niece when I made a negative comment about him on find a grave site. She said he was her favorite uncle and they would have long talks and he was very kind hearted that he was nothing like he was on Green Achers.
