One of my top 18 favorite reptiles. That bit about the growing toe pads is really interesting, and as I recall they only figured it out within the last few years. For decades ecologists thought green anole populations were much lower, because I guess they didn't look up?

Another fact is that males are territorial, and will sometimes fight. I was lucky enough to witness this a few years ago. The two would try to grab the other by the mouth, and the winner literally threw the other off the fence they were on (he seemed uninjured).

When I used to live in Florida, I would catch lots of these in my backyard and keep them for pets

I've saved three green anoles from my cats this year: two males, and one female.

Growing up in Florida, they’re so common and they honestly help get rid of so many pests. They’d make better pets if they were so skittish

I caught a male one of these lizards the green lizard 🦎 I kept it but then I knew it was going to die so I had to release it😊 but I caught the lizard with my bare hands I was able to catch you with my hands cuz there was a small tree in the back in my backyard I just pulled the tree down and you still want it I grabbed him by the two and then I got a good grip on his stomach it doesn't smash them if you are having a hamburger with both your hands it's like that but you use your thumb in your finger and you gently hold them they will try wiggling out though don't make them bad are they bite you I never got bitten by them though
