nobody agrees but i think its a good thing that ollie beat malcom so easily. it shows that he's actually progressed as a character in terms of skill. and it makes sense too, given that he kicked ra's al ghul's ass at the end of season 3.
zenith honestly people don't care that Oliver beat him it's that he beat him in under a minute all it took was a few hits that is why people hated that poor excuse of a fight
Technically he didn't, he said the only reason he won every time was because he knew what he was fighting for and willing to sacrifice. This fight, Oliver realised he was willing to sacrifice his life to stop Malcolm and he won.
Brian Blake So Oliver only got the chance to stab an arrow through himself and into Malcolm because Malcolm was talking? It really isn't that "thin" of an excuse...
Actually you're wrong! Malcolm lost the first fight, although he hit Oli few times with arrows. In the end, I think Oli stabbed him in the leg and knocked him out cold.
Just imagine how anticlimactic the ending would have been if dig would have just went in shooting as Malcolm was monologuing. “Welcome gentlemen…I’ve been wait….” *dig shoots him immediately*
Merlyn doesnt get enough credit. Part of that is because they wrote his character pretty terribly in seasons 3 and 4, but in season 1 hes just as good of a villain as Slade and Prometheus.
He could have been better if they made his main goal something other than " I'm gonna destroy the city and rebuild it coz that's what people who care about the city do". This has become to generic
+Coldhatezzz arrow's budget are so low now it's like CW have no interest in Arrow anymore. the only reason arrow is alive only because it's core universe of CWDC. that's why it sucks bad.
Green Arrow no kidding. literally only watch the show if theres literally nothing else to do now a days. The best thing you can say about season 4 is that it's not as shitty as season 3 even though it's still pretty shitty.
+TheSmart AMV (Smartone) I think you need to watch this again. Don't get me wrong, huge improvement from season 4 but still no where near this level. Look at Malcolm fighting off both diggle and Oliver at the same time
You may be right, but to be honest we didn't really see much of that part, they kept cutting to different views, which made it hard to see what was happening.
The fights used to be a lot more gritty and practical back in Season 1, but that's what the goal of the writers was: something that could exist in real life. The fights in season 1 can easily be thought by the viewer like "yeah, if someone had that training, they could fight like that". The fights in Arrow now are actually still really cool, but have a different mentality to them. While Season 7 sorta went back to gritty roots with the jail fights, MOST of the fights now are based on style. Visually appealing. Like, Oliver does all these spinning kicks and twirls mid air as he shoots an arrow... yeah I'd like to see ANYONE try that in real life.
@Cer El I mean it in general. When flash isn't fighting the main villain he's fighting a meta human which takes episodes to capture whereas reverse flash/zoom could easily have killed in the first few mins.
Prometheus isn't the Dark Archer. But his costume is similar, so suspicion is he's a resurrected Tommy Merlyn, alive thanks to Flashpoint (The producers said that Prometheus has a connection to season 1, and Flashpoint would really mess up the Arrow show, though so far the only difference on the show is that Diggle has a son, not a daughter. There's gotta be something more than that!)
DJsaxby16 Actually, judging from the point of entry of the arrow it didn't look as if it went through his heart. It looked too high up to be the case. Whether Merlyn could have survived such a wound however would be another point of discussion.
I'm running through Arrow for the first time. I just finished season 1, and Malcolm was one of the best parts of it. Rarely do I enjoy watching villains as much as I did with this guy.
Season 1 is still my favorite season. Season 2 was great but Season 3 for the most part was disappointing. I'm sick of the Olicity crap. It's a superhero show not a soap opera.
Season one and two are tied for me and I've repeatedly watch all of them mutiple times. Season 3s cross overs where pretty cool but Ras didn't seem very menacing but Season Three made Oliver a legit badass. Haven't touch Season 4 yet but I have watched the crossover with Flash and nearly fainted with happiness.
+The Darkfrost Season 4 is really good. They definitely got back on track. The villain is great and Olicity hasn't really been getting the way too much.
Season 4 is mediocre at best. The choreography is still shitty and they've neutered Oliver to make other characters seem more badass then they actually are. There's still a shit ton of Felicty pandering as well.
Without Mirakuru Malcolm could definitely beat Slade. While Oliver improved after Season 1, he and Slade were virtually on the same level during their fight. It took Oliver 3 years to finally get good enough to beat Merlyn, but by then, Oliver was the best fighter on the show. That just goes to show how top of a contender Merlyn was.
@@jmmproductions6741 You forget that slade was weak from being injected by the mirakuru cure when he fought Oliver. Everyone else hit with the cure got instantly knocked out but not slade
Malcolm: "Tommy do you see Oliver yet?" Tommy: *unconscious in the other room* Malcolm: "Fuck this I'll get takeaway and should get back before he gets here."
I don't know if Oliver improved a lot over season 2 or Malcom is just way too badass. I mean, Oliver was able to take down both Nyssa Al Ghul and Al-Owal (Malcom's trainer) in less time and without having to stab himself in the process.
He didn't care for her as much as he did Tommy at the time, and was totally beyond reason since his dreams were almost coming to fruition. But, now that Tommy is dead and his plans half-failed and finished, Thea is all he has left to possibly care for.
Since Unidac Industries had 5 years to develop the prototype earthquake machine, it’s a lucky coincidence Oliver returned to Starling City around the timeframe considering he doesn’t know about the Undertaking at that point. Imagine if he returned after finding out the Glades have been destroyed.
Jonny Lupus You literally misspelled the word "spelled" and the word "wrong" while getting mad at someone for spelling things wrong..................Wow.
season 1- action, crime season 2- action Sci fi, crime (I added Sci fi cause of mirakuru) season 3- action, fantasy, crime season 4- drama, fantasy, romance wow arrow went down hill
Back when Malcom could go toe to toe with Oliver. There was no reason to nerf him that much in season 4. Malcom went away and had plenty of spare time to train. I believe after ras training Oliver could beat Malcom. But not that easy.
This fight was better than Green Arrow vs Deathstroke. Oliver kicked Slade's ass way too easy if you ask me. Anyway, damn this show is good. I loved Smallville, but this... This is 10 times as awesome. I wonder if we'll be seeing Clark at any point in the show, I don't think so, but that would be so awesome.
Arrow Season main villains Season 1:Dark Archer Defeated by:Oliver Status:Dead(Arrow Season 5 finale) Season 2:Deathstroke Defeated by:Oliver Status:Alive Season 3:Ra Sha’Goul Defeated by:Oliver Status:Dead(Arrow Season 3 Finale,Did return in Legends Season 1 episode 13) Season 4:Damian Danrk Defeated by:Oliver Status:Dead x2(Arrow Season 4 Finale,Legends Season 3 Finale) Season 5:Prometheus Defeated by:Himself Status:Dead(Arrow Season 5 Finale,Did return in Arrow Season 6 episode 16) Season 6:Diaz Defeated by:Black Siren(earth-2) Status:Alive
That depends a great deal on the type of metal and the type of wood. Some hard woods are more than capable of taking on metal weapons and coming out on top. If you make a bow out of iron or titanium, it'll be a great doorstop but a terrible bow. One of the main characteristics of metals is that they deform plastically (it retains shape changes). Whatever material a bow's limbs are made of, it has to deform elastically (it stores and releases energy by springing back to its original shape.)
I wouldn't say Malcolm fought them with "ease" (Green Arrow and Digg did land some pretty good hits on him) but he still put up a great fight. Nowadays, Malcolm is a huge pushover.
The one thing that I hate about this season is that we didn’t see enough of the Dark Archer. I only remember him being in 3 episodes (9,22,23). THREE. It also didn’t even make sense why he showed up in episode 9. I just wish we saw more of him.
merlyn only used his dark archer persona when necessary (like cleaning up loose ends). plus, it’s also a league of assassins uniform, so he probably didn’t wanna catch their attention
I think it would be awesome if Oliver and Malcolm teamed up, I mean if Ra's al Ghul wants Malcolm dead and for whatever reason tries to kill Oliver, Malcolm should train Oliver in the League of Assassins way which would then allow Oliver to actually be able to kill Malcolm at some later point.
ThePopeye90 Deathstroke would kick Dark Archer's ass. Even before Slade got his powers, Slade's fighting skills were on par if not better than Merlyn's. Slade cut down Fyers' men, trained soldiers no less, like they were nothing. Now, he is basically super powered. Plus, unlike Arrow and Dark Archer, Deathstroke doesn't shy away from firearms; he's basically a walking armoury.
All good ideas. I can see Thea getting kidnapped, and maybe Moira too, considering Malcolm still loves her. It would be awesome seeing Merlyn going papa wolf mode on the League (although I do think he is probably one of the lower ranking members of the League). Meaning he'll probably need Oliver's help.
this show is just awesome, and now the flash will be introduced and spin off into his own show, SO AWESOME! At first I didn't want them to include this show in the DC Cinematic Universe but now I hope they do. And there's no reason they can't. I wanna see Green Arrow and Flash team up with Bats and Superman in a JL movie.
Wow. I forgot how easily Merlyn kicked Oliver's ass here. I remembered it being a lot closer. But damn, Oliver didn't stand a chance without that random arrow on the ground. Him and Diggle got owned. And then season 4 happened.
Ahh, the old days, back when everyone called him “The Hood”. And Malcolm was referred to as “The Copycat Archer”. That part of arrow feels so far away now. Man I miss Arrow season one. Tommy still alive, With Thea a bad girl, no sidekicks, just Ollie and Dig, Moira still alive, The once known as ‘Detective’ Lance, Deadshot an actual villain before ARGUS, Oliver attending all those parties, Laurel a Lawyer, good fight scenes, and barely ANYBODY knows Oliver is the once known as ‘The Arrow’. Oliver was always bringing up the funniest excuses for felicity to help him out as well. The moment arrow introduced too many sidekicks really fucked up the show. Season 1 was so cool because it was just Dig and Felicity In Oliver’s crusade. In fact, it was mostly just Dig and Oliver. Back when it was just the two of em was so cool. Roy Harper was alright. Not as good as just Ollie and dig but he played his role well and had a kick ass suit. Laurel was fine being a lawyer. When she became black canary was bad enough. But THEA going all vigilante? That was one step too far over the line. Now we have Mr Terrific, Wild Dog, Artemis, Spartan, Arsenal, Speedy, Black Canary. The show has introduced WAYY to many sidekicks it feels as if Oliver isn’t the centre of the show anymore, but rather a big TEAM of vigilantes is the centre. Holy shit season 4 REALLY messed things up and took Arrow down a road it should never have crossed and left for Legends if Tomorrow instead when it introduced mystical powers and magic. Damian Darhk was the worst villain for arrow, he would have been PERFECT for legends (I know he appeared on legends but I only watch arrow and flash. Besides, Arrow was his main show.) And Oliver running for mayor was a big step backwards as well. And we can’t forget Damian’s plans, (Genesis) to launch nukes on the world and destroy the planet, while they sit in a dome and restart from scratch. Worst plot EVER, especially for a show about a guy who wears a green hood beating up criminals on the streets. This is a bad plot but Arrow is the worst umong the cw shows to pick for this, it’s just not Oliver’s thing. I would prefer that magical powers and mystical shit and global catastrophes be kept in the hands of Supergirl or Legends. I would live with The Flash, but wouldn’t be happy about it. OMG And Oliver not only hitting off with Felicity but all the marriage shit between them, that’s too far. As much as I hate laurel being black canary she’s perfect for Oliver. I liked felicity being with Ray Palmer, they were the perfect match. If I had control over arrow I would slowly work Oliver back into the billionaire playboy from season 1, and very slowly move Oliver’s sidekicks out of the picture over the course of a season, and just leave Oliver, Dig and Felicity. MAYBE one other sidekick, but I would have it Roy Harper. I hate how arrow always introduces new sidekicks, they should just find something and stick with it. Roy Harper was the best sidekick Arrow was actually ever going to get. I would change Green Arrow to be more intimidating and have him targeting people from the list again, just not killing because he’s not a VILLAIN. I would change the villains in the show from mystical guys such as Ras al Ghul and Damian Darhk to cool serious people like Malcolm Merlyn and Prometheus. To be honest, I’m GLAD Tommy died in season 1. Had tommy lived to what arrows become now, he would not fit in. Tommy is just not the right fit for arrow now, I’m glad he got to play his part on the good side of arrow before it started going south at season 3.
1:59 Can't beat the classic tricks. Oh, how I miss the good old realistic dark adventureous series instead of the "half the time crappy storyline and half the time god-damn Ollie/Felicity centered drama" Long live S1 and S2, to hell with S3 and S4. Pray that S5 will be helluva lot better. Note: Ironic that Malcolm used that same trick on Damien Darhk in S4
It's crazy how big the gap got between these two. Malcom was wrecking Oliver and Diggle, and then was pretty much in control of the whole fight Season 1. By the time we get to Season 4, Not only does Oliver whoop Malcom, he completely humiliates him, no difficulty. Like Big Yikes
@Chris Rowe True, true, but still, it's crazy to see how big the gap got, and how fast it grew, even Season 3, there were showings where Oliver took Malcom.no dif
In my opinion, Malcolm Merlyn had a great reason to become evil, how his wife was murdered and listening to it over and over drove him mad, and he wanted to take revenge on the people who killed her, yes lot of the things he does is cruel and brutal, but you can say he wasn’t born evil.
Sam Hexgen Lol. I agree. But it's from the comics. There's a storyline in the New 52 Green Arrow comics that is a retelling of Green Arrow's origin story revolving around an Arrow totem and each issue introduces a new clan.
Back when diggle vs Malcolm. Was a gud combat love those day when Diggle. And Malcolm. Look like they were. In the same. League. Need. Diggle and oliver to be best fight in season 7 and season 8 to 12
Most of the fight scenes in this show look too choreographed. It looked like they were waiting for each other to make the next move. First two seasons were great but idk about now.
That necklace that he wears at 0:54 i think that green liquid is from the Lazarus Pit and when Malcolm was near death he quickly drank it and it healed all of his wounds
Most hilarious thing about the final is when dispite the boyfiend's and father's wish Laurel goes back to her workplace to save some stupid documents. Unbelievable. I almost cried out loud.
