Amazing how Dickey would unload the ball almost every time in under 3 seconds. Maybe Aaron "sandlot" Rodgers who likes to hold the ball for 8+ seconds looking for the perfect throw every time he drops back should watch some of this film.
what an ignorant comment, yeah he should throw as many interceptions as dickey does in one game as arod does in a year. Arod the best qb rated qb of all time, yeah he should watch nthis.
@@RommelEGH here's another QB breakdown video for your football education. Breakdown of Rodgers average (by his standards shitty) 2019 and how he went from good back to great. Basically the same thing I said before 2020 season. Glad he is playing in the system now and not playing "sandlot" like last year. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cWMTPKEOctc.html
@@brians7181 Of you watched the film it says that in both seasons Rodgers averaged less than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball. That’s not 8+ as far as I’m concerned.
@@lukekiefer5964 I exagerated. If you watched the video his time to throw from 2019 to 2020 went from 2.74 (28th) to 2.54 (19th.) a quarter of a second in the NFL is an eternity. He reverted to his old ways at times last week in the NFC championship, with the best example being when he had both Adams and Lazard open in the endzone and he threw late to Adams, who ended up one yard out of the back of the endzone. If you rewatch the game, you can see if he released the ball earlier it was a touchdown to either one of them. Packers also gave up 5 sacks, two of them due to the O-line being smoked, the other three can be attributed to rodgers holding the ball too long. Third and 5 at 11:30 4th. Larzard open at first down line. Rodgers holds ball and gets sacked at 3 seconds (an eternity) Packers punt. The third and goal from the eight play was also not his best moment. Commentator (Hall of fame) QB Troy Aikman said "he had a shot if he tucked it.." Instead he hesitated and threw back across his body to a standing still double covered Adams. Dickey would have gained a yard, 4th and goal from the 7, if Rodgers doesn''t score there he gets down to at least the two or three setting up a short 4th and goal. Any more brilliant analysis you want to add?
@@lukekiefer5964 "“I think all of that stuff really just helped me to get that balance and rhythm back in my drop. And because of that, I played on time, the ball came out, and when the ball comes out on time, I’ve always been very accurate,” -Aaron Rodgers 1/26/2021 LOL. He said it himself-is that good enough for you? packerswire.usatoday.com/2021/01/28/aaron-rodgers-reveals-the-secret-thing-he-discovered-that-powered-his-mvp-season/?ats=2dc49742cb3263cb8f423c44e25b00c97b97ea682eac2e098dc1f7600b7ee10b
Lynn Dickey may have been the best pure passer to ever play the game. If not for all his injuries, which would have ended the career of lesser men he would have been a Hall of Fame member.
You can't ignore his frequent unforced "flutter ball" throws though. The ball increasingly gyrating to near end over end by the time it got to the receiver. Good passer? Definitely. Pure passer? There's a pretty long line in front of him.
Speaking of UNDERRATED performers, Paul Coffman was a beast as a BLOCKER and RECIEVER... not like today's TE's who are 6'5' 215 and couldn't block a girl. Coffman wasn't big either, 6'2" 230, but GREAT HANDS and excellent blocker. Was a premier TE for about 7 years w/ the Pack.
My dad had and still has the County Stadium tickets and he says there were a lot of unwatchable Packers team back in those days. Part of why they played at MCS was because Lambeau Field wasn't selling out and they thought they could draw in more attendance by playing in Milwaukee.
@GIL Favor sad times for Packers and their fans. #1 in offense, last in defense. Not a great offensive line as far as protecting Dickey. '82 they beat St. Lois Cardinals at Lambeau Field in playoffs then lost in Dallas. But Packers beat the Super Bowl Champion Washington Redskins the following year on Monday Night football. Highest scoring game in Monday Night Football history until Nov. 19, 2018. It was October 17, 1983 Packers 48 Washington 47. Best game I ever went to.
In the history of the Packers, they have never possessed as talented of a group of pass catchers from the skill position as they had in the early 1980's
My dad would always tell me how good Lynn Dickey was. If the packers had a better offensive line or a shred of defense he would have been on a lot of good teams.
I remember the following night Johnny Carson made the Rams' performance in that game a centerpiece of the opening monolog of his Tonight show, it was that noteworthy. 😋
The Rams were snake-bit that year. High expectations for Bert Jones (17), but it wasn’t to be. This was an inauspicious start to the strike-shortened year for them. Bill Belichick once said Jones was the best pure passer he had ever seen.
The rams first of 3 straight years where they visited Milwaukee county stadium. That was more than the vikings, or lions, regular annual visitors of south Wisconsin
Week 1 in County Stadium? That’s insane. The Packers had a great running game. I remember traveling and my dad rushing to get a paper on Monday after Eddie Lee Ivory got hurt. I think it was an ACL and surgery wasn’t like it is today. He never played again. He was a powerhouse.
John Jefferson, James Lofton and Paul Coughman?? That was an incredible wr corps for one of the best pure passers to play the game. Lynn Dickie could sling the football with accuracy! Those Packer teams were the same as today's Packer teams. If they'd had a good defense, they'd have been playing for titles.
Score at half Dicky 23 packers 0 , happy to see the come back. During these years I didn't like watching packer games especially since I was brought up during the Lombardi era. Could you imagine if he were coach during this game!!!??? Hahaha
My brother played HS football with Carl Ekern, Rams #55. Carl was a very good dude. The Pack had some good receivers, Lofton, JJ and Coffman. Killed me when they fired Bart Starr.
Lynn DIckey was so unlucky to be on this Packer team. IMO, he was a really good pure passer. But he just did not have a good enough team around him, especially in the OL and the defense.
Back when you had to wait 20 minutes to figure out what the game situation was. Like, even back then, they could've had the score, time, and down and distance posted in the corner of the screen.
OberSports do you have the Monday night shootout between Dickey and Theismann in 1983? I’ve got it and I can send it to you or upload it and you can put it in your playlist if you want.
