This was, at least to me, the last "2000's era" Playoff game. You had fullbacks blocking, carrying and running routes. You had coverages that just smothered you if you weren't good at play action, tight ends that ran something other than go routes or sitting in zones. It all changed the next week at San Francisco when Kap ran all over us, I'd argue that football just hasn't been that good since then. Sure, there are more big plays, but that's it. Look at the Chiefs in the Super Bowl just a couple years ago at Tampa. All Tampa did was play Cover 2 over the top and limited plays of 20+ yards. KC had no inkling how to just put together a long drive; running the ball and throwing passes under the zones.

I've always felt that the Vikings only made the playoffs that year by default due to other teams that were expected to be better and playoff-bound not playing up to their potential. New Orleans kind of lost themselves that year with Bountygate catching up to them, which led to Payton's suspension for the entire season. The Giants won the SB the previous year but failed to make the playoffs that year, which tends to be the case for many teams the year after they win the SB. Cam Newton was playing only his 2nd season and still developing, as he led Carolina to a division title till the following year. The 2012 Chicago Bears are considered one of the best teams to not make the playoffs.
