While attending the Overland Expo we discovered a new product from Green Chili ADV Gear and it’s called a Z-Drag Recovery System. You can deplete all your energy trying to get your bike unstuck from the mud or just picking it up. The Z-Drag is a common rig to give you a mechanical advantage for reduced pull. The combination of roller cams provides a 4:1 pulling ratio for self-recovery and a 5:1 ratio when you have help from friends. That is actually really cool. I am going to have to pick one of these up... we have had a few instances of bikes going over the edge within our group.

Thanks for pointing out that the rig has rollers to reduce friction. That was my only question about the setup.

Attaching that loop to both forks will add undue pressure pulling them together under load. That can cause damage to the forks and triple tree. Simply attach your loop to a single point, so you aren't trying to compress two points together.

If I had to self recover by sitting on bike and pulling up a hill, how steep of a hill will this work on. (typical 250lb dirt bike). could i get it up a steep incline? (I'm no muscle man just average strength.)

This system is designed to recover your bike if it becomes stuck in deep mud or you could pull it up hills but with you off the bike.

We were at an Expo event and wish we could have had a more isolated place for sure. There is already videos online of this system dragging KLR650's around on the ground, it does work, but yes given a different location we could have laid the bike over etc. thanks for watching
