You are spot on!! Wynton always teaches that in jazz improvisation you should get an idea and milk it for what it's worth and that is quite evident in all of his solos. Everybody listen to the bridge at 1:50 when Joe accents on the snare and Wynton 'fakes' him out on the repeated phrase. You can hear the guys laughing in the background. I LOVE JAZZ!!!

I love how Wynton invites the drummer into the conversation at 2:00. To me, his music in general is so inviting. There are few musicians that are such virtuosos on their instruments, they can basically play anything in anyway during improvisation. It amazes me how he jumps octaves at 3:23 and not crack a note!!

His whole solo builds up to 4:43. I can listen to that line over and over. It is fuckin good.

As much as I've seen this video, I keep noticing new tidbits of info. At 2:45 after the high note and the rest of the band comes in to start another chorus, Wynton admits to Warmdaddy that he temporarily "forgot where he was".

it happens to the best of us. Even Wynton is human. This music celebrates Human-ness! Creativity, emotion, expression, 3 characteristics that separate humans from all other species - That's what jazz is about man!

(3:49-)3:55-4:25(-4:29). Period. I love the way he jumps two octaves at a time before that as much as the next person, but his phrasing here is so amazing. The way he works with just that one idea and just those few notes including my beloved flat 6 is absolutely brilliant. So choice.

Wynton Marsalis Es Genial. Para Mi El Trompetista Mas Grande De La Historia. Cuando Toca Jazz es el Mejor y Cuando Toca Música Docta También. Puede Variar De Un Estilo a Otro de Una Forma Impresionante. Y Su Lenguaje en el Jazz es El Mejor Idioma.

I think its funny, how the person who filmed it, or produced this video is not mentioned. We would not have this video, if it was not for my father Jeff Jones and his friend Preston. You should add the musicians mentioned below, he is missing one of them though. Orlando Q. Rodriquez - percussion

It's a shame this video shuts off right in the middle of Mr. Anderson's doing his thing. He is so contemplative in his demeanor while the music he makes is bold and intense!
@JustinCopelandMusic
@JustinCopelandMusic 14 лет назад
I'm pretty sure the form of the tune is AABA: Abm7 for 16 bars, Gb7sus for 8 bars, Abm7 for the last 8. The second chord of the tune is actually the bVII, not the III. The relative Major of Abm is Cb (B). the M7 of Abm is G, which is not the #11 in BM. It's the b6. Wynton is simply using the Ab mel. minor for the Abm7 (as you said), but it doesn't overlap with the Gb chord. There is no lydian mode being used.

Green Chimneys is an RTC in Brewster NY where many have been abused. I aws abused the whole damn time I was there. I'm sorry the Monkman's daughter, whom I didn't know because she was years before I was there ever went because beatings were the usual. Staff beat kids and I was given beatings every day. It's a damn shame he would name a song after that dreadful, horrible RTC.

I wish I could help you, but all I know is a 32-bar chorus in the AABA form. Maybe more musically inclined people than myself can give you the harmonies. Thank goodness I don't have to know the actual chord changes in order to listen!! haha :)

basically the same thing. I saw an original transcription of the form, and the bridge was Gb7sus, which would essentially be Cb7/Gb (could also be Cbm7/Gb). Kengo (the bassist) seems to stick to Gb in the bridge during the solos.
