There's something about this song that sounds good with the sound of the audience singing along being quite noticeable, especially in the chorus. I wish they'd play older songs more often.
I was fortunate enough to catch this when it aired. This video unleashed so much nostalgia for me. This song is so incredibly good! Honestly, they could update & re-release this as a new single. Half the fans wouldn't notice, and the other half wouldn't mind. This is one of their best songs and possibly one of the best rock songs in general.

i adore this song, i remember watching this on TV 4 years ago, and then after collecting the albums i got Kerplunk and recognized the song. now it reminds me of my boyfriend, unfortunately lol. but i love every part of this song

i love green day. i know i wasnt there when they first came out...cuz i was just a baby. but if i was and had the enough money i go to everyone of the tours they are an amazying band...oh and this song rocks.
man i remember when i was 16 years old back in pinole,Ca in 92' i had the kerplunk cassette i would just sit in my empty room and i'd sit on the floor and listen to this till the tape was worn out i knew how to play ever song back when NO ONE knew about green day they were local and completely off the map they really meant something to me some thing some of us kids around town could call our own now everybody knows them and tarnishing there name even 6 year olds are into them old memories now
You're absolutely right. I shouldn't be getting mad at anybody right now. It's just that I hate the fact that people don't even care about older Green Day anymore.
It's because the majority of Green Day fans today didn't start listening to them until they heard songs off of American Idiot, and they thought that Green Day was all about what they sound like on American Idiot. But they're not at all. They used to be all about growing up, smoking weed, and the San Francisco Bay Area. And now, people think they're "Canadians who hate America" because of the song that gave them so much success.
I've only been listening to Green Day for about 6 years but when I started with the whole American Idiot phenomenon, it made me look to their older music which i love more than anything. I have Dookie on vinyl and I plan on getting Kerplunk soon
woah. when i was like 3 or 4 years old, my parents would let me watch green day on youtube, and i remember finding a live performance of christie road, a song that i hadnt heard before, and liked it. i remember my parents could never find it again, but im pretty sure this is the video from what little i remember

a valid point. I discovered them when they released Warning, and yes I noticed a difference in their sound on American Idiot, but I still liked it. I had already heard a few singles like Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case and Good Riddance before I actually became a fan of them. I know full well the changes they've made along the way, but I still thought American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown were great. Sure not every song is great, but then again, no band is perfect
if you're a true fan you can appreciate the old AND the new. you know what songs you dont like and what you like, and acknowledge and appreciate all of their successes and failures.
