Thank you very much. I do my best to try and emulate the guitar tone from the records, it also helps when I am able to use backing tracks so that I can isolate the rest and mix in my guitars properly. Cheers 🍻
@@90sPunkRockCovers You're welcome and above all thank you. I grew up with all these "punk" rock songs. I'm 39 now and still listen to punk rock, so stay strong and carry on ;-). Greetings frome France
I LOVE this song! Tons of Social D vibes. Nailed the tone. I wouldn't expect that with a P90 since the album was supposedly recorded with Blue. But I've also heard reports that Billie recorded parts of Dookie with a tele. We may never know for sure haha! Fantastic cover!
Thank you Gabe! Yeah, out of all the songs off the album, this one never sounded/felt to me like a Strat. Too jangly for Blue, but like you said, who the hell truly knows 🤷🏻♂️ unless BJA sees this and confirms it haha.
I mean blue does have two single coil pickups in the middle and neck positions and p90’s are single coil as well - tonal differences would be negligible with the right amp, BUT I also agree that I doubt a lot of this album was recorded with blue. I could be wrong of course, but the tones do not scream strat.
@@carlapplebaum3200 the single coils in Billie’s blue strat is not connected, so the pickup switch is only functional as a killswitch. On Dookie Billie had the Bill Lawrence humbucker, I am pretty sure he managed to play something like this with the gain turned low on the old Marshall’s. But it is not unlikely they recorded with other guitars.
No puedo dejar de ver todos tus covers! Esta es mi canción fav. de green day. Cover perfectamente ejecutado. Un abrazo. Pura vida desde Costa Rica 🦥🇨🇷😎🤘🏻🌋🏄🏻♂️
Thanks man! Definitely underrated. Not sure if Billie used his Strat for this one on the record doe, sounds really jangly to my ears that’s why I went with P90s. Cheers 🍻
Love it. I dont know if you have done it yet but could you do Chump and Longview in the same video cause Chump leads straight into Longview on the album
Awesome video man. Great job! I Love this song. With time this has become one of my favorite songs on Dookie. I love that it's slower and more groovy among many other things and that the intro and outro are tracked for 2 different guitar parts almost like for a 4 piece band. Question for you man: What gauge guitar picks do you use? Also keep up the great work!
Thanks buddy! My favorite song for sure. I list all my gear on the video description, however I play Dunlop Tortex and the gauges vary from song to song or whatever I feel like using at the moment. Usually I jump between orange, yellow, green and blue.
90s Punk Rock Covers lol that’s almost every color! On this song which Gauge did you use? I ask because I’m using Orange but I know Billie uses yellow and I’m wondering how important to his tone the pick gauge is.
Do you make tutorials for the songs you cover? I really like this song and I wanna learn it. Could you tell me which fingers go on which strings for some chords? I can see most of them but some are a little unclear. I really enjoyed the cover btw.
I don't, but I've been asked before in the past. I learn all of these songs by ear and I'm not much of a teacher. Maybe someday I'll do a tutorial video, who knows?.
@@90sPunkRockCovers I finally got the Strat for my birthday! I don’t know if I told you about it. But anyway my favorite song to play on it is 2000 light years away. The video you made of that really helped me learn it. Thank you!
Bridge P-90 only, BEST TONE EVER!!! Almost sounds just like a LP Jr (but with the interference of the second magnetic field). You always seem to very closely replicate the tone, good on ya!
Thanks, Rory. I definitely think this song was recorded with a P90 guitar, it just has that throaty jangly sound on the record that I hear on all P90's. I could be wrong but that is how it sounded to me. Cheers 🥃
@@90sPunkRockCovers If I remember correctly, BJA often played either the Strat or a single cut LesPaul Jr (single p-90) on stage back then. If i was a betting man, he played the Jr on the album and you were right to pick the P-90 L.P. Sorry for all the comments, I'm trying to up your numbers :) BTW, did you catch my comment with the Spotify Playlist? I think you'd enjoy the +13 hour collection. Many of the songs you cover are contained within.
@@thissiteadmin I know BJA started transitioning into Juniors and SGs during or right before the Nimrod era but I’m sure he was already using them in the studio since there were probably a lot of different guitars he could choose from. I might have missed your comment about the Spotify Playlist.
