Znakemaster, the new album may be different but it’s amazing. Not everything is about the politics, why can’t the best band ever make an album about dancing if they want??
The lyrics are like from a time machine that was buried deep down... Green Day is back bitches, let's let that sink in for a while. Or were they ever even gone? Lol....
I'm 56 years old and I believe this is the best music I've heard since the mid 80's. Bands like the Clash and Gang of Four would be proud to open for Green Day. Well done boy's ! You made this old punk boy smile.
See but that's not how having fans works. You like a band because you listened to something you like and you want more of it. If a band is going to change the way they sound, they'd better expect people to be like "what the fuck? Where the hell did that other stuff go?" P.S. I don't even know anyone that's saying these two songs are bad so I don't know why you'd make this comment in the first place.
+The Littler Penguin I'm pretty sure they're more so talking about people comparing it to other albums in a good way. I've seen people say things like "this is like a mix of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown." I agree that we should stop relating this album to Green Day's past works and let it be it's on thing. My favorite comment I've seen is "No, this is not a mix of x and y. This is Revolution Radio."
Everyone complaining about "roots" What the fuck are you talking about? Every Green Day album is significantly different from the last. And sometimes uses a little bit of old material but still something new to offer. Take Nimrod for example.
+Spotify Premium (High Noon) you see they became sell outs instead of appealing to they're already large audience they decided it wasn't enough and decided it was time to change in to something more main stream like pop rock and they started to dull down they're amazing guitar riffs, they're lyrics, and so much more to appeal to the pop rock audience not only that they revolutionized punk but decided that money was better than being amazing
nate124 Well we were so used to the old songs that now we have to get used to these too. In a few years, I'm sure everyone will be regarding these as classics.
+Cameron Reyno some kids just want desperately how big and manly or how well music orientated they are.But they are kids so listening to slipknot or green day wont change anything😂
First time in over 20 years Green Day made a song I consider one of their true classics. This one will be up there with their best in another 20 years. Already 3 behind us.
Still my favourite song of all time, no idea why but nimrod and revolution radio are my all favourite albums %100 Despite this I still have insomniac as my pfp
We need more songs like this. No stupid romance or hate toward everyone… just social justice. A true revolution against the injustice. Or I’m just hyped by the song. I think it’s both.
I´m 43 years old and have been listening to Green Day since the days of Dookie. My wife and I have just spent Sunday afternoon eating, drinking, dancing and listening to Green Day songs. This band never gets old!!!! Every album just keeps getting better!!!! We love rocking out to them!!!!
I was already hooked into the new album when they released Bang Bang, but with this song and Still Breathing, I can't wait to get my hands on the new album and have a long listen to all the songs. If you can't tell, I'm a bit of a Green Day fan :)
***** not sure if any of these are on Dookie because the album I own is International Superhits; Warning, 21 guns, Macy's day parade, maria, basket case, welcome to paradise, pop rocks & coke. And no, I haven't listened to every song, but I have been listening to Green Day since the 90's and have been loving them ever since.
***** I listed from the ones I could recall the name of dickwod, I only mentioned international superhits because I couldn't remember if any were in that album. Now before you try to throw another insult in anyone's direction, get better at it.
To me, this song is great. Nothing wrong about it, but if you actually enjoy green days real punk shit like me (kerplunk, dookie, insomniac, etc...) then bang bang is definitely the way to go. Even though it's not quite the same, it has that punk sound to it that they haven't had for the past several albums.
ever since i was 7 or 8 ive wanted to see them in concert. their last tour i got tickets but i got caught smoking so my mom refused to let me go. now this time i get to go and my boss makes me work. so i quit my job at subway (its a shithole anyways) and now i finally get to see my favorite band in the world tonight!!!!
I'm now 5 months late but congrats! I myself was a fan of these guys since I was 9-10. I even wept over how I'll never get to their concert while watching concert records... But this June my dream came true! I cried tears of joy as I stood in about eight steps from them, shouted to their songs at the top of my lungs and everyone did the same! It was amazing, and so was your experience I believe :)
I’ve always loved this song but sang it’s never struck an emotional chord so hard. After what’s gone down in 2020 so far it took on so much more meaning(for me personally).
I thought of Whatsername, Good Riddance, and F.O.D, and I don't really understand what you're saying. I get the "How far they have come and now they have returned" thing, but.. yea.
That's crazy. Usually they start ten years later so when they're 20 they are say that. I like when people is ahead of his time. I got 10 years of experience using computers and I am 15, make the math.
Stupid comment trying to sound smart this song is revolution radio, and its got a lot of american idiot vibes so it does sound like other songs, that doesnt mean its not good or that statements like that are wrong
"Bang Bang"has been out longer. But I guess people really like "Still Breathing" It got to 1 million views in about a day. BB and RevRad took about 4-5 days.
My guess is for Bang Bang a big part of it was simply it was the first one. Anyone who had any modicum of interest in Green Day coming back would listen. I'm sure some people listened, didn't like it, then proceeded to not care about the other releases. As per Revolution Radio and Still Breathing, I feel like Still Breathing leaves a bigger emotional punch. Still Breathing is easy to empathize with for anyone dealing with struggles, whether it be depression, illness, being poor, etc. Revolution Radio is more political, and only so many people pay attention to that kind of thing.
I wish. People still hate rock and say it's not real music while they say all the topics and hip hop mention are. WITCH IS STUPID. AND SOPHIA, SHUT UP.
Same. Every time I hear a bad pop song, it reminds me of how much I hate it, and how much I love green day, and the offspring, and a hole lot of other bands
Not all dropouts are illiterate. In Billie's case it just worked out for him because he has extraordinary talent along with the brains and vision to keep his success, fortune, family and band going for this long, not to mention his unending creativity. Though he may not have gotten to the level of success he has if it weren't for Mike and Tre's contributions. All three are geniuses in their own right, diplomas or not.
It's probably just in reference to 21st Century, the Bang Bang video had the American Idiot drumset. It probably all just means that they're going back to the sorts of sounds they used in those two albums
i don't think it's new. I just think it's a refreshment from the clean and somewhat mellow trilogy back to the distorted and angry american idiot-ish era
Judging from both 'Bang Bang' and 'Revolution Radio', I honestly don't think this album'll come anywhere close to being as good as Nimrod, Kerplunk and American Idiot. Thus far, these singles have been musically pleasing (with Revolution Radio being my favourite), but the lyrics are so. damn. corny. Green Day's lyrics have never been amazing, but these two singles sound like KidzBop versions of some of the 'edgier' songs on American Idiot.
I was born in 99 so I grew up with their old music. My older brother listened to them all the time when I was a little kid and I love their music to this day. Green Day had literally been the corner stone for how I want to live my life for so long. I've found what works for me personally but the influence is still there
"my love's bulletproof" -RevRad,Revrad Green Day "i've got a bulletproof heart" - Bulletproof heart, Danger days,My Chemical Romance, HOLY GUACAMOLE WHAT IS THIS RAVIOLI
EDIT. Let me make this clear: I am not criticizing Green Day or anything like that, I love this band (music and the three of them, four with JW). I am just saying that cleaner and stronger voices like those in Bang Bang or AI era (or pre-AI era) connect with me better. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy this song (or 21st CB) which I do, a lot... It just means that I have personal preferences :P XD Cheers! Original message: I seriously think this is not going to be the sound style of the album and revrad it's going to be more like Bang Bang. I think these voice filters and the style in general are trying to mimic voices coming from a radio. I'm not a huge fan of this 21st sound, but it grows on you after a while :) It's good that the filters help you like 'situate the song'. Still, I hope the rest of the album has cleaner and stronger voices, like in Bang Bang and (pre-)AI era.
