New to your channel, I enjoy your videos they take me back to my old rock hounding days which I can no longer do. I'll just go ahead and relive them through your videos. I didn't have google earth or youtube back then, I depended on old maps that I would find here and there to locate areas to pick. Sometimes I would hit but other times I'd miss. Enjoyed the hunt which ever the outcome. Thanks and Cheers....
That's a very old pot. I used to deal in antiques. It's probably left by a miner from the area. Great find. Good piece of history will make a nice rock garden decoration. Great video am enjoying it very much. New to your sight I think I'll sub. I could learn alot from you. Novice rockhounder here. 💜😉☕🍩 Ms Michal
I actually went out looking for nephrite after I saw your first video about it. Found some cool pieces of float out around Jeffrey City. Can't wait to cut and polish some of it. Looking forward to your next video.
Glad I found this channel I went to wyotech in Wyoming and I’ve wanted to rock hound it now I didn’t rock collect then I dig your green quartz quite vibrant
The rock you are holding at 1:50 is definetly aventurin. When trekking around tgose rock piles and railings be very aware of rattle snakes and scorpions. They love those kind of areas. Nice video, thank you!
Are you a professional videographer? I am a professional photographer, 30 years. Your information is priceless. Please do not criticize your video work. You are sharing important information.
The "ants with wings" are termites. At some point in their life cycle they develop wings and swarm and fly to new locations to start their next colony. Once they find some wood to make home they drop their wings and bore in to start their next nest.
Love the video, and that turn table thing on the back of your truck also rocks great simple idea! pity you did not get to the top because i was so stoked to see the top of that old mine, maybe next time
Yup , definitely aventurine , which is actually a silicon dioxide (mohs 6+, which is a tad softer than SiO4 quartz) . And yes , "aventurine green" is from chromium in the stone matrix .. nice👍!
great episode! i just got back from a 2 day adventure from Real del Castillo, but only detected de first day with the GPZ 7000 and the gold monster, i skunked on the GPZ, hit it for over 6hrs, i had to take care of business and handed the gpz over to erick the land owner and in the first 10 minutes he gets one, hahaha, continued for the rest of the day on different patches, that was it. theres lots of big nuggets but it will require obviously more than 8 hrs to learn the machine for the rest of the week erick will use it and ill let you know if he scores th big one. good luck on your next adventure. BS Y FP.
I always wanted to try detecting down in Mexico, that's cool. The Z will hit em if they are there, good machine. I'd still own one if it wasn't so expensive, too much to lose if I break it or gets stolen! Good luck, snag some big ones.
USMiner if you ever whant to check that one on your bucket list let me know and ill take you to private owned land to get some big ones. i can get whatever detector you want to use, you dont even have to bring yours. gl and hh.
I love green quartz for some strange reason. I'd love to find a bucket full. I polish it and put it on copper and make jewelry. Something about the green goes really well with copper.
You could definitely get a bucket full out here if you are in Wyoming. I think some of this ended up being chrysoprase (one is on the left in my hand in the video thumbnail), it's very nice cut and polished. Copper oxidizes green so that might lend to the compatibility.
Such a nice country! Where is it? I doesn´t need to know where old jade mine is, but I need to know where is such a nice lanndscape. Where in Wyoming is it?
what are you doing with the busted out concrete? Is that a garage or what?. It looks like you have more large cracks in your slab. Are you going to replace them too.
It's a truck bed unloader from Harbor Freight. I hate giving free advertising but it's so much easier than shoveling, I had to trim it down to fit though.
Hi! I want to learn how to prospect and hunt for gems and minerals but I have a few novice questions 1.) Was this owned land or you were just exploring unowned territory? 2.) How do you know if you are trespassing? 3.) how do you search for places to go Explore?
Another quick story, I had a Yamaha Big Bear a few years back, out looking for pretty rocks, at the top of a very very steep mountain I had to get off, as the 4 wheeler went over I was able to get the gear off but couldn't stop it from going. As is rolled down the mountain, everytime it hit those balloon tires, it gained altitude. When it finally stopped, it was the shape of an Easter egg, funny thing was, this unit was new that day. My insurance agent was so happy with me. They totaled it with one look...
Haha man, yeah I can imagine it doing that. I was leaning half off almost touching the side of the hill, went up on 2 wheels over a rock and just about bailed and let it roll too. Scary to think about. I freaking love my Kodiak though, I spent 15 years prospecting without an ATV at first, best purchase ever!
I'm 69 and pretty disabled, 4 back fusions, both knees, right shoulder, now in 30 days I've got to have my neck (all of it) fused. I have a pain pump in my gut, but I do have a RHINO 660 that hauls me around, about all I can do now... Thanks for the feedback... I appreciate it
Mike Hale Look into Earthing! Hopefully it will help with the pain. So sorry to hear that. If you try it and it works for you let me know. I just read upon it at www.earthing.com.
did you identify the location from looking up the coords from the old claim? Or just browsing sat images until you found some terrain/features that looked interesting?
Didn't know there was an old claim there until I got up there, just browsing aerials and following leads. There was no record of it on LR2000, might be in the county recorder though, I will check. Will definitely explain in more detail in an upcoming video.
What do you use to edit your footage? I use Adobe Premiere and I have to go into Edit> Project Settings > General and in there you set the timeline to 60 fps.
Vegas, it only gives a few options for formats at 60fps. I forget the one I tried but it rendered it, but it was all skippy and the audio was out of sync at 60fps. It was .avi. Usually I just use the 720p or 1080p "Internet Video" MainConcept AVC mp4 codec but it doesn't allow 60fps. I'm not too great with editting and whatnot, I need to spend some time learning someday.
Hi.. But i hate to ask this qesistion..here it goes.. I found a spot on a river bank by me that is black sand with green stones mixed in with it... Is that something i should look into more?
Most likely answer if they are larger stones is serpentine or something like olivine but I have no idea. But I think every rock and mineral is worth checking out, always learn something along the way.
USMiner yes always a good ideal to do that but iam not the one who will every one where ite at... God dont what dozers and people coming in there ripping to whole place a part...
Dude, those bugs are not ants. They are termites. They are looking for fresh bare wood. When they find it, they drop those wings, bore in and set up housekeeping until whatever they're living in collapses in a heap of sawdust and excrement.
The ants are in nuptial flight, ie breeding. This is when the males and the queen adelades take flight and breed, the queen adelade goes on to be a queen of her own colony and the male dies.
Isn’t that serpentine? Or serpentinite?jade doesn’t have that texture/grain. It’s a lens and should have a little translucency when you put a powerful light to jade.. Serpentine is commonly mistaken for jade. And it’s in the asbestos family so be careful and wear proper protective gear to not make yourself sick over time. ✌️ It’s been a fun adventure with you though. Thanks for making the video and sharing with us out here in the internet.
Thanks. I just checked your channel out...wow you are one unique individual. Dental proceedures, leeches, enemas, underarm care, chicken ranching and gardening. I've never seen a channel like yours before. Bulgarian? Macedonian?
usminer@usminer.com, if you email, be prepared to do some tests though because ID's from pictures is notoriously inaccurate and difficult unless it's something with clear visible cues.
Interested in learning more. As you mentioned in the latter part of this video about helping beginners. I emailed you on your email and also, from a previous RU-vid video. Never heard back from you on either? Thanks
I believe that’s an elk skull. I say so Bc I just bought a ranch from a hunter/trapper in NM and he has them. He hunted elk each season. But I don’t exactly know my skulls haha.
I do but I really need to spend about a week cutting some stuff open to find the good quality pieces here this fall or winter. I gotta build a bigger saw first.
Yeah usminer.com, but I haven't had time to build anything there yet, hopefully this winter. Medium quality is the best I have so far in green which I was selling for $10/lb but I sold everything I cut, though I have found a couple other spots where I located gemmy, flawless black jade, the problem is I can't figure out how to get it out yet barring a helicopter haha.
