WOW!! This is gorgeous! No way in hell would I let some dumb fish chew on it! This goes in a lighted glass case, and anyone that gets too close, gets beat up! 😂😂😂. Appreciate you sharing this! Fantastic art
Maybe just a personal quirk. I was always taught to keep the hook inside of the vice to stop it cutting the thread. Depends on your vice I guess. Me, better keep it out of the way. Old style, follow the flat silver tinsel with an oval silver.
Moy Peter Green is another Green&Yellow one, originates from Ireland. I got to know it from a book by Peter O’ Reilly ‘Flies of Ireland’ for trout and salmon
Another beautiful tie that I'm planning on doing very soon. But was interested in when in particular you were tying in the mallard, and saying to pull the stem/base up on top of the shank, would you do that on a Lady Caroline or a low water blue charm ??. Tia
I apologize if I didn’t say it. The white thread is Danville 8/0-10/0. But I have to say, I’m starting to switch to all GB thread. Body and head. Normally I switch and use GB black only when I get to the wing, and it’s incredible. It’s a 12/0 with the strength of 8/0. detteflies.com/collections/thread/products/benecchi-thread-12-0 Just the best thread going. I was always a uni guy for trout flies too, but if I can get the color in GB, I use it instead now.
So what I do is put a little super glue on the thread and do a few turns with that. I do that because when I cut the wing with a razor blade, if I cut the thread, the wing doesn’t fall a part. With a new razor blade you barely need to touch the thread and it’ll break. Hope that helps.
Hey. Swanfeathers: In Denmark we have big electric wires in the air, and in autum the swans fly in too them and die..sadly..but last year I took one home, for the feathers, and its free, then you just have to die them, its easy
You found a gold mine haha. Swan is very expensive. Well good swan is. They were protected in the US till 2005. Then in some states after 2005. Tough to get it. Put them to good use and smart man for collecting them.
Oh man that was quick no wonder I missed it. Those are Medal Wallets or Envelopes. They’re called a few things but essentially their purpose is to store Medals. Thanks
