I’d give Hyper Sonic the double jump he has in Sonic 3&K (well, it’s more of an air dash that pushes your momentum into whatever direction you want) and maybe a spin dash that goes close to top speed so that when you jump, you have enough momentum to give the illusion of flying (actually being able to fly might break the game a little too much). But I feel like this fan game really shows the potential of an open world Sonic game. Picture this: Sonic is placed on an island with eight different zones, and is tasked with collecting seven keys across each zone to gain access to Robotnik’s base in the eighth zone. Each zone is large enough to make the game last, and there are several bosses scattered around each zone. Upon defeating all the bosses in a zone, a key is rewarded to you. In addition to collecting the keys, a Chaos Emerald is hidden somewhere in each zone. Collecting all of them would give you Super Sonic (and since you need to go to every zone to collect an Emerald, you can’t just break the game with Super Sonic, and the final zone could be designed with both regular and Super Sonic in mind so that you can’t cheese the final level, but you can have fun running through all the other zones). And similar to this game, you can take the Emeralds to a Hidden Palace-styled area and get Hyper Sonic, which would be the reward for finding this secret area. I think that this would make a really fun and enjoyable experience (I’m sure anyone can tell just from how much I’ve typed about it).

the QOTD of course depends on what modern sonic we're talking about. dreamcast era modern sonic: i can't really think how you can make him stronger than how his super would work, maybe when using the bounce bracelet the screen would shake and there would be a screenwipe? boost formula modern sonic: this one is way easier to think of, his boost would screenwipe, in forces his double jump would be better and would screenwipe, basically an unstoppable killing machine.

*@**10:49* That's why I personally find trying to replicate the classics' momentum-based mechanics into 3D to be a double-edged sword. It's fun and intuitive in the classics because it's less complicated on how you position yourself on terrain. In 3D (this fangame) on the other hand, you have to be far more precise. Especially when it comes to loops, there's a world of a difference. In the classics, you can simply gather up enough momentum and hold right to make it through the loop. In this however, you have to not only gather up enough momentum, but also try and keep yourself within the loop without falling out of it.

Well, on 3D its harder to land but you can actually see where you land, as oposed to 2D where you can't see when you land when you are so far up

QOTD: I'd give Hyper Sonic the ability to Boost in Air, after doing a screen wipe, as you should be rewarded with the ability to easily blast right through stages like a boss, and not just have it be given to you like in Sonic Forces...

i have that game and i have hyper form and i get 200 rings and i turn hyper form and jump and prees x to fly if you ar on a key board prees left click and then prees space to fly but you first need get 50 rings or more

I'd make modern Hyper Sonic's boost unlimited and have his ring count stay the same as when it's activated. Hyper Sonic is immediately deactivated when he takes a hit.
