Hi Jez, Most kneeboards are wider, shorter and have more curve in the outline than standup boards. There are a few exceptions with some riders preferring longer more straight-railed boards, used mainly in larger waves. Overall there is quite a rage of kneeboard shapes out there.

I didn't know it was a competition. I love it all, they all have their place in putting a smile on someone's face. If all you get out of surfing is an opinion about one being better than another well you have a different attitude to riding this free energy than me. But that's ok. "Surpassed" ??? - we've never, ever seen a Body Boarder attain anywhere near the performance levels of a kneeboard. A kneeboard is a bonafide surfboard, in fact they are the forerunner of the modern shortboard. They are the og performance platform pre-dating the post modern era in surfing and crucial to it's development....Ask Greenough... George is old now, sore knees. Kneeboarders are early in the barrel, more torque than stand-ups, paddle like a dream, side to side weight distribution as opposed to standup front and back distribution means less drag more speed. It feels great. I Kneeboarded for 20 years,. Have been a standup for 17 years. Am now doing both depending on conditions. Waveriding is an art in all its forms.
