Film Disription: In a mysterious universe, the Green Lantern Corps, an elite defense force of peace and justice have existed for centuries. Reckless test pilot Hal Jordan acquires superhuman powers when he is chosen by the Ring, the willpower-fed source of power. Reluctantly at first, he takes on the challenge after the death of Abin Sur, the finest Green Lantern. Putting his self-doubts aside, and spurred on by his sense of duty and love for his beautiful, intellectually equal, colleague, Carol Ferris, he is soon called to defend mankind from Parallax, a powerful, evil being who feeds on fear. I like how Sinestro criticized Hal for creating a sword as his primary weapon, yet all the best of the lantern corps could come up with was a giant chain net and a few light blasts.

Agreed. Weak. Especially after the Green Lantern training sequence where half a dozen weapons were ' imagined ' into existence . No gestalt/ group efforts to create one cool super- powerful construct to fight Parallax , either. Maybe give the GL ring to a child with some imagination left... Or an Imagineer like myself..

It's a logic called iterative reasoning. It's a school of thought that says "A doesn't work because of X, but A could work if Y" and Y is a permeable mutation, that can be changed with each generation of experimentation. So "Controlling fear doesn't work because of its raw power. But Controlling fear could work if we created a ring." This is the typical school of thought behind invention and mechanical engineering.

Okay... I agree with the first part. But names don't automatically make you evil. If you were named Black or something dark, would you consider yourself evil just by name alone? Of course not (unless you're that narrowminded, in which case, you have bigger problems). Sinestro was one of the most loyal and best Green Lanterns for many years, and really wasn't a bad guy. He was trying to do what was best for the Lanterns and he fought for the Guardians with all he has. He only took the fear ring at the end because the plot demanded a teaser for a sequel (That would never come).

I know this movie had its weaknesses, including another evil cloud. But I never understood why people hate it that much. Back then I thought it looked very cool. And as much as they changed, Sinestro is spot on.

Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, no one liked that. If anything people at the time with accepting him as his own separate lantern but that's not the case. No one had a problem with the suit but at that time of superhero movies the suits weren't cgi which made green lantern really cheap and a cash grab (Hence why it was such a big deal and a running joke for Deadpools suit to not be cgi or animated.) Remember we had the spiderman trilogy and the batman trilogy, just for green lantern to have this whole cgi animated lazers fighting a cgi monster with lazers, with a fake background . Again spiderman trilogy (Tobey maguire) and batman trilogy (Christopher nolan) it's hard to compete with

This is starting to become the go to premise for villainy in Marvel/DC stories: A good guy is incredibly principled, a threat comes along, the higher power he serves does nothing to stop it, the character is in disbelief and soon "sees his side for what it REALLY is" and then he falls into corruption and blah blah blah: bad guy.

Couple things 1. No wonder they lose so easily to Darkseid. At the 1st sign of doubt in their power the result to their opposition. 2. I think the lanterns were weakened and limited with there construction due to parallax instilling fear into those lanterns allowing him to then feed on that fear which in turn fear is the enemy of will so there willpower was dwindling to making there constructs weaker that's just my opinion on why they lost

A lot of people complain about this movie, but they got Sinestro and the alien Corps members so so very right.

@Bartolo Clemen that works for opinions as well, some are just bad. Green Lantern was not the best hero movie out there but it's far from Superman Returns or the original Hulk movie levels of bad. Granted, I've been a fan of the character and comics for over 30 years, so seeing these concepts on screen was a treat for me. I especially don't understand the complaints about the cgi.

WHAT I AM WONDERING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE POWERFUL VILLAIN (PARALLAX) Now what I am wondering about is that if the character villain (Parallax) might ever make his appearance in some future movie project story of a (GREEN LANTERN) movie someday? An if so, then I wonder if the powerful alien villain (Parallax) might make his appearance in a (GREEN LANTERN) movie that involves the Green-Lantern whose hidden identity is that of male character (John Stewart) in it?
