Olive oil is a key component of Mediterranean and Maltese food. During a Maltese olive oil tasting tour near the town of Mgarr, we visited one of the few remaining groves of olive trees on the island. Urban overdevelopment, climate change, and invasive foreign bacteria and species have put enormous pressure on Malta’s green spaces. Their preservation depends upon raising public awareness of the island’s environmental treasures and strengthening their economic value.
Join Tricia and me as we take a tour with Merill, a Maltese ecotourism company that will be a key component in the island’s conservation efforts.
