This movie is Titanic for men. If it helps, John is always obeyed. He's just so soft spoken and patient it's easy to miss. And when John decides to take action anyone who tries to stop him just sort of stands back after a moment. There's no knowing how old John is. He has scars that strongly suggest he was beaten with a whip when he was a child; but how long ago was he a child? He may be only able to die by a profound injury. If John had wanted a different outcome at his trial, he could have made it happen.

I cry every single freaking time with this movie. The talk Dale gives before his death about he wishes he could have met them somewhere else, the talk John has in his cell about never having a buddy to be with, and tbh it hits me the hardest when I see Brutal tearing up and trying so hard to hold it in… ugh 😩 destroys me every time. This is a Masterpiece of a film and should be shared with anyone who has love and compassion in their heart. It's how I know people from all nations are mostly good and it's all of our governments that are evil. There is still love in the world and I pray we all keep our hearts soft and realize we all share one home THIS PLANET. Yes. Every child should see this film. The problem is: children grow up. And, eventually, they become the new police officers, lawyers, teachers, criminals, butchers, priests, etc. Then what? Chances are, people who see this film spend a few moments pondering the emotional content that it wrings out of the viewer. Tomorrow?…they’ll be the exact same person they were BEFORE watching it. Sometimes, entertainment can be a very powerful thing. But…a powerful moment is rarely everlasting.

The most poignant, gut-punch line in the whole movie (to my way of thinking) is John's "I'm sorry for what I am" as he sits in "Ol' Sparky" awaiting Eternity. And the small aspect that "speaks" so loudly at the end, when Paul shakes John's hand, a bookend for John shaking Paul''s hand upon arrival at Cell Block E at the beginning of the movie -- the completed circle of respect, honor, and gratitude for all the mysticism and humanism that was learned and experienced.

It's very good to see another guy react to this movie the very same way I do. During the most emotional scenes towards the end, I cried (and still do) my damn eyes out. Totally ugly crying to be honest. Certain movies just simply break me. In a good way through, I'd say. It only means that the story really works. I really get drawn into the story/action when things just...well, WORK. Story, acting, soundtrack, etc. I get really immersed and invested emotionally. Mix that with being generally easy moved...and yeah, go figure: 😭😭😭 🤣 Anyway, The Green Mile is a masterpiece. Period.

1. YOU WILL CRY😭😭😭😭 2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie". 3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.) 4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row. 5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD)😇 and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭 6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part. 7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene. 8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill. 9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌EVERYONE hates him. 10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge. 11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller. 12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off. 13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for. 14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced. the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT) 15. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!

Watching reactions to this movie are 50/50. Some people hold in their emotions and others, like yourselves, let it out. Lots of tissues and deep breaths for this one. Seeing others cry makes me cry. Crying is a good thing. Shows we have humanity and care. Only way we are going to survive, as a race, is to show emotion.

Without a doubt, this is the most visceral reaction I've ever seen from a reaction channel. But what really disturbs me is: after watching this nearly 3-hour-long emotional rollercoaster of a film, how many people will go back to being the EXACT same person they were...before viewing this "potentially" life-altering experience. Humans have to be God's most puzzling (and disappointing!!) creation.

Beautiful reaction to a hard film to watch. Thank you for the courage to show your true feelings. Many choose to edit out their crying. Some, few are so lacking in feelings that they are not moved. I cry a little every time I watch it.

Stephen King is a force of nature in creating these stories. A national icon. Many great movie adaptations from his writing and Shawshank is at the top,.

One of those movies that ends up being in your top 10 best films list, but that you'll probably only watch once.

Tom Hanks and John Wayne both like to work with actors they have worked with before. You'll see it in both of their movies

This movie destroys me every single time I watch it. I remember seeing it when it first came out, and bawling like a baby. That hasn’t changed.

This movie breaks me every time. It's a long movie, but it doesn't feel long until you realize how emotionally draining the end is.

A mouse generally lives 5-7 years. It was around 50 or so when Mr Jingles finally died. The implication is Paul might live another 300-400 years… We tend to think of long life as a gift, but when you outlive everyone else around you… well it becomes a curse.

Aside from the whole premise of the movie being fantastical. The idea that in 1935 southern USA a black man found with two dead little white girls would have made it to trial is fairytale material.
