You get the 5 on the outro! This is the first discussion I've heard on when to choose between the 2 colors. Good for you! That's what you are all about...new and unique content! Way to go.
Love this break down DD....Watermelonseed Candy and Green Pumpkin Purple are ny two favorites...Always eliminate the candy and go with a black flk when cloudy which I think you're saying here? Do you dip the tail section or use a chartreuse marker in more tannic or slightly stained water? Along with possibly adding a rattle... but not dirty enough to have to go to a black and blue? Anyone that doesn't believe what DD says about his shaky heads needs to try them because they are the bomb!! Worth their weight in gold in the highly pressured lakes and ponds in the Northeast! Like them best with some of the highly salted hand poured worms we use here... might have given up a little TMI LOL
Good point on throwing grn pumpkin on overcast days in shallow water. Never thought about that...makes sense. Will try next time the conditions call for it. Thanks for the awesome tips!
Loving the instructional videos!!! Been fishing since I was big enough to hold a cane pole, Always like to learn and understand the how and why, it makes us all better fishermen!
Thanks for the insight Dave... I never knew when to use what color... it was usually whatever mood I was in... now I know better! Appreciate all the effort you put into these videos sir
I live on Sam Rayburn... I go with black and blue flake with a lite blue tip tail sinko... Preferably strike king....when fishing deep...had great success...but your right on the darker colors deeper and clarity of the water......great video...keep it up...
With quality videos like you have putting out that sub number is going to steadily rise. I have a couple packs of Perfection Lures Shakey Heads coming from TW today. Anxious to give them a try.
I bought some shaky heads last week and cant wait to give them a try soon. My son has been watching your videos too. This past weekend he said "Hey Dad do you think Dudley would review a video of me casting and reeling a wacky worm and give me some advice" Let me know what you think about that. I love that he thought about that
As always DD with a wealth of great information. It can be difficult to understand what colors mean to fish underwater and a guy would think that if its dirty water you need something bright, right? Just the opposite is true, I just saw a video someone had posted recently and he put a camera underwater and danced a variety of colored lures in front of it and it is amazing how much better you see the darker colors in dirty water compared to white or chartreuse. After hearing David describe color choices makes so much more sense to me now. How about a tour of your tackle cave now that you gave us a little glimpse? Always interesting to see the collection a tour pro is hording.
Oh the power of suggestion. We went back today just to see if they had Z-Man Fatty-Z baits. There were three packs of one color, they were Watermelon, lol, just bought one pack.
I saw the Z Hog at the store this weekend. There was only one bag lying around. No SKU tag anywhere to be found on the shelve...When did this mutation come about? And of course I bought the only bag because it was in Green Pumpkin! DAVID DEADLY with the Green Pumpkin!
Great vid. Honestly I don’t even mess with the variants. I have three colors. Watermelon, green pumpkin, or junebug. And if the water is a tad dingy I will use a little chartreuse pen on the tail of either the watermelon or green pumpkin.
Nice video DD! I love your stand up shakey heads too! I have a question about them tho...I tend to have my line wrap around the stand up pegs occasionally, only if I'm hopping it off bottom aggressively. Is there any tips to kinda prevent that? Other than just not being aggressive with them? Thanks man ur awesome!
Yea when it's really windy it happens some but remember it is still equal value to any standard shaky head cause that's all they do. Also when I throw a shaky head I always drag I never want to take it off the bottom!
That’s great information. I have some green pumpkin and watermelon plastic worms and I’m going to try them both out next Monday. What color do you recommend for really stained lakes with low visibility? There is a small lake I want to check out that has bank-fishing only, no boats. This lake is supposed to have a good population of Largemouths and Walleyes.
fantastic info david , a young guy in my bass club was your marshall , name was brad , said he couldn't believe how thorough you fished a target spot , said next day he had jimmy houston , really enjoyed it , so young guys be a marshall , never know who you'll be with
My PB was a 6 pound post-spawn bass in about 6' of water, about 4' of visibility , I was throwing a watermelon red flake strike king rage craw Texas rigged
