This Galveston, TX home was originally built in 1891. It survived "The Great Storm of 1900" hurricane; however, hurricane Ike knocked it off it's foundation and nearly destroyed it. The Galveston Historical Foundation saved the house from demolition, moved it to a new lot, raised it approximately 7 feet, and completely restored it using modern materials and energy saving techniques while retaining the original architectural elements. It's "green" for the energy and water conservation methods and building materials, and it's a "revival" of a house severely damaged by hurricane Ike. A boring old house transformed into a modern energy efficient home!
