I think ive stalked all of your videos. I only wish you had more! Going out with a good group this weekend! Any advice on a bigger sit thats nicely secluded? Thanks for helping out the camping community!
Site 85 can take a few tents and vehicles its very secluded, site 51 can definitely take a group but watch out for glass, site 43 can take a few tents. Site 74 would be great but there is currently construction at the end of the road on the private land so I'm not sure about the future of that site. I just stayed there in may and it was still lovely and a big site that can take several tents and vehicles easily I only saw 2 vehicles in 5 days! Site 53 can take a few tents or so and backs up to great hiking. 36 has room for a group with lots of room for vehicles and tents spread around and a very private drive. Depends on how many tents, vehicles and people you have but I'd be torn between 74 and 36 for the most space spread out and the area even with the construction near 74 its got a great layout for a group and lots of flat tent sites and some great hammock trees too! Have fun!
@@DeafDalmatian Hi! im planning on going next month... we went last year the weekend before halloween and alot of the roads were washed out from all the rain storms the months prior to going have they repaired or reopened most of them or is it still a very rough and bumpy drive ?
@@Thegoat-zu6mk I don't know. I don't live there or even close. You should contact the office for that info. I'm planning to go this week so I can report on the roads I do travel on. But yeah, ALL the roads are bumpy always and some are down right scary and then you get on the 4x4 only roads and then its oh Heck I hope the dog doesn't barf time! I remember though that a lot of sites were closed last fall or was that spring? I have no idea which will be open or not. It always a guessing game until you go to HQ and find out which sites are open and pick one and pay for it.
I really couldn't say because I'm not out there now and don't know the conditions and can't tell you how your rig will do on the dirt roads. If you stop at headquarters during business hours they can help you. I've never towed a pop up so can't tell you how you will do on different roads. I mostly see any type of campers on the more main roads. I drive a jeep wrangle rubicon so I can go to the hardest to reach sites without thinking about it. The dogs get jostled about sometimes but we get there. On the northern side I think is more easily accessible I do have question marks for sites 12, 13 and 14 meaning I want to check them out better when someone isn't using them. And those roads have always seemed to me accessible by almost any vehicle. Let me know if you stay at one of those how it is! Other than that I can say I have seen small rv's at sites along green ridge and old town orleans road but I'd definitely ask at HQ what they recommend for your clearance. Have fun! I wish I was going this weekend but I have to work!
@@bubblict I'm sorry I wasn't more help. I hope you get a good site. But really the place is so beautiful all can be good! Things to do are hike the c&o path, paw paw tunnel, bills place for food supplies and canooing, and the favorite is nothing at all but relaxing! Have fun!
DeafDalmatian it was so filled up that Linda from the office put us at the horse field area across from the overlook. It worked out perfectly for our group! We had so much room and can walk to the overlook. When we went to check out the famous campsites people were actually packing up and leaving and we could have snagged 66 and 65
