I was out there yesterday jigging for them. I hooked into a big one and it almost pulled my rod out of my hand I tried to give it line but it broke me off. do you have any tips on how to handle stronger fish? (I had 20lb braid with 20lb fluorocarbon leader)

I’ve been using 30lb power pro braid and 15-20lb Pline fluoro havent broke off yet from the 4 i caught so far make sure your drag is not too tight when they make a run and i try to keep the rod tip down till im bringing them in

Enough drag to where your line won’t snap or your rod won’t break, don’t fight the run.

What leader length do you recommend on this river?

i do a short leader about 2 feet you could always go deeper with a small leader but these fish stay tight to the bank especially when the water rises

@@BoykoOutdoors thank you! I’ve noticed that as well and been trying 3ft + leaders with no luck. I’ll give it another try!
