I was actually trying to find green woodworking of beech trunks into trough bowls/dough bowls a foot wide and a couple feet long.i split the lengths of the beech tree,s trunk and cut the sides ,face and back ,and the 4 corners off with various side/splitting axes,so as to reduce the tension from the corners ,,,when following,when the prepped blanks have dried a little I will shorten the bowl/trough by sawing off any end grain cracks as they appear,hopefully my beach dugouts will hold
